After our interview we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, followed by our take on all topics, as well as any interesting news of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com.   Listen to the show The Lost Hours Art Zavala and Brynne Filer met at Cafe Etc in 2010, started playing music on the sidewalk and decided what they heard was the sound they wanted to make. They began performing in local bars, cafe open mics, bookstores, clubs, fashion shows and private parties around Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. In 2011 they obtained a two month residency at the Viper Room on the infamous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, a three month residency at local Long Beach coffee shop Sipology, and were briefly in conjunction with a small music label. They have played at venues in San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York and have become involved with local coalitions and organizations such as Green Long Beach and Lights Out. These experiences further strengthened their identity as musicians and in late Feburary of 2012 they came up with the name The Lost Hours and have self produced their first EP to be released this fall. After our interview with The Lost Hours, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more.  Alamantra on Swoop’s World Late Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:05

On Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 8pm/PST (11pm/EST) we welcome Alamantra to Swoop's World. Join us as we get to know Alamantra and their music! Alamantra Alamantra is a seasoned live band that plays originals and covers. Their music ranges from classic blues — to classic rock --to free-form improvisations. Alamantra blends these genres while sprinkling in shades of jazz, reggae and alt. country along the way.The band strives to make each song a unique experience shared with the audience. Listen to the show Alamantra’s sound is composed of the psychedelic-drenched blues-driven guitar-weaves of Steve Casteel and Bobby Shiflett that flow up from pockets of groove mad by bassist-vocalist, Rick Glaze and drummer, Brandon Allison. Originally formed in Birmingham Alabama in 2000, as a vehicle for an extensive collection of music from songwriter/guitarist Bobby Shiflett, Alamantra’s musical journey has taken it through a long, sometimes agonizing, enriching process of musical development. The original lineup featured Bobby Shiflett: Guitar, Keyboards & Vocals; Ken Shiflett: Drums; Andrew Reid: Bass & Vocals. These three had worked together in various projects since 1993. Over the past decade numerous other musicians and artists have shared their talents with Alamantra as well; and each has added his or her special, sustaining influence in the music. Alamantra’s latest effort, “Workingman’s Bread,”  is a culmination of musical energies that combine the band with some of the best talent in the Magic City. In addition to the four core members of Alamantra, “Workingman’s Bread” also features the vocal talents of Kenneth Robinson (Jive Mob, George Clinton, Smokey Robinson), vocalist/rapper Carlito Jackson (Jive Mob, Deep End), Royal and Toulouse chanteuse, Milyn Satterfield, pedal steel wunderkind, Pete Nice (Electroliner, The Saturdays and nephew of the late, great Kurt Vonnegut), guitar virtuoso Tim Boykin (Carnival Season, Barking Tribe, Shame Idols, Topper Price etc), Joel Smith (Happy Lemmy), keyboard wizard, Derek Nolin and MANY others. Thanks to the brilliant production of Brad Timko, the result is a masterful creation of unique, stylistic original music that puts forth the very best of what Birmingham has to offer. After our interview with Alamantra, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more. This week we’ll be tasting Deep South Pale Ale by Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. located in Kiln, Mississippi. The Swoop’s World iPhone app is now available in the iTunes store.  Steve Delamater and Angela Madsen on Swoop’s World Late Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:10

On Wednesday May 30, 2012 at 8pm/PST (11pm/EST) we are happy to have two outstanding guests. At 8pm/PST we welcome the return of singer/songwriter Steve Delamater.  After our interview with Steve, We are honored to welcome six-time member of the U.S. National Team and U.S. Paralympic Team member Angela Madsen to the show. After Steve and Angela, We will, of course, have our Brewskis beer tasting segment followed by our take on all topics, as well as any interesting news of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Steve Delamater Steve Delamater is from Pasadena, Ca. and started playing guitar when he was 13 years old. “I started writing songs and riffs about a year later,” says Steve. In high school he was influenced by a variety of artists including Brian Eno, the Pixies, and Tom Waits. Listen to the show “When I started as a musician I thought of myself mainly as a guitarist, but soon I began singing and writing real songs; some more intricate, some nostalgic, and some just plain goofy. I’ve played at several wine bars and coffee shops in the LA area – my favorite of which being the Coffee Gallery in Altadena, CA., where I got my start as a performer.” Angela Madsen My Name is Angela Madsen and I am an accomplished ocean rower with 6 Guinness World Records for rowing oceans. I am going to row a solo ocean rowing boat with no support boat from California to Hawaii.  What this means is that I will stay on my little boat the entire time, no one will give me any food or water, I will have to have enough provisions on board to sustain my life for as long as the journey takes.  I will row as many hours a day as I possibly can and will try not to drift too far off course while I sleep.  It begins with the idea followed by logistical planning, purchase, the shipping and outfitting of a solo rowing boat; I will start this rowing expedition Memorial Day weekend, May 31, 2013 from Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, California or other suitable coastal location and will be rowing approximately 2,500 miles to Honolulu, Hawaii. It is a tribute row to Veterans of all services and to Spirited Adventurer and friend Orlando Rogers who was tragically killed in a plane crash on May 15th 2011. He was 26 years of age and was a Royal Marine. Orlando was very supportive of me and all of my projects and he was very excited about my intentions to do a solo row so as I make my plans I think it would be fitting to make my row a tribute to honor his memory. He wanted and planned on being there for me as he was on the Circumnavigation of Great Britain. Though it will not be the same, he will be there with me for every rowing stroke and every nautical mile. Orlando was a very special and amazing person. The name of my boat shall be The Spirit of Orlando. Through creation of a pledge page and donate button I will be raising money for a veterans charity that is yet to be determined. It is an ambitious plan but I am a paraplegic who rows across oceans. It seems rather normal to me. I am open to connections made through social media and networking to find partners or sponsors for this event so please share my story, my contact info, have a fundraiser for my project 2013 Para Solo Row. Angela recently set a world record in the shot put at the Desert Challenge Games in Mesa, Arizona and will also be competing in the Paralympics in London this summer. After our interviews with Steve Delamater and Angela Madsen, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more. Swoop’s World Late Night is on from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Listen to the show Haster started in April of 2010 when Brian Tew and David Heida were introduced by a mutual friend. From there, Brian and David began writing the ideas that would later turn into songs. After figuring out a style and sound they wanted to create, they began the hunt for a singer when they put an ad out on Craigslist. In November, Jarret Stockmar replied to the ad and the core members of Haster were solidified. Jarret put his amazing vocals over the musical ideas David and Brian had been working on and those songs later became their debut E.P "Searching" that was released in May 2011. Later Bobby McCool replied to a craigslist ad, and joined the band shortly after the release of "Searching". After playing over 30 shows in 2011, Haster is planning on destroying the music scene in 2012 by putting on awesome shows for old and new to come fans. After our interview with Haster, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting that is being sponsored this week by a couple of our listeners known affectionately as "VAK," sports talk, rants and more.  BlackDogHat on Swoop’s World Primetime | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:24

Swoop’s World Primetime is on from 12pm/PST 3pm/EST 8pm/U.K. Tune in at Swoopsworld.com. BlackDogHat came together through the urge to create. Although from London and Athens and with different cultural backgrounds, they had common ground, that of story telling through words, sounds and images. Their music does this and each song paints a picture from soft melodies to rocky ballads. One half of the band, John Sage is Essex born-and-bred. The other half, Matt Gkikas is Greek... and a seaside childhood is one more thing they have in common. Listen to the show The band formed in September 2007 when the two realised that their common passion for music, their background in bands and musical theatre and their similar outlook on the creative process could lead them to something worth pursuing and sharing with as many people as possible. Their style of music is edgy, haunting, melodic with dark undertones, punchy and different. Join us at 12pm/PST!
