Andrea Hudy joined the Kansas staff as the associate director of strength and conditioning in September 2004. She was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Sport Performance in July 2008. Since her arrival Hudy has handled the strength and conditioning responsibilities for the KU men’s and women’s basketball team. Currently Hudy oversees the Anderson Strength and Conditioning Complex for all KU sports except football. Hudy came to Kansas after nine and a half years at the University of Connecticut, where she worked closely with the Huskies’ national champion men’s and women’s basketball teams. In all, Hudy was part of eight national championship teams while at Connecticut – two men’s basketball; five women’s basketball; and one men’s soccer. She’s worked with 19 Jayhawks who went on to play professional basketball. Overall, she’s worked with 37 student-athletes who went on to play in the NBA and 21 who went on to play in the WNBA. Ron McKeefery has served as a strength and conditioning coach at both the professional and collegiate level.  Working with such professional organizations as the: Cincinnati Bengals (NFL), Kansas City Royals (MLB), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), and the Berlin Thunder (NFL Europe).  Currently he is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Eastern Michigan University.  Prior to Eastern Michigan he was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals, Director of Strength and Conditioning for the University of Tennessee, and spent 10 seasons with the University of South Florida (Div I BCS level).  In his time at South Florida the Bulls transitioned from Div I-AA to the BCS Big East Conference. Allen Hedrick, M.A., CSCS, RSCC, FNSCA, is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Colorado State University-Pueblo, a position he has held since 2009. Hedrick began his coaching career as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Fresno State University. Following graduation Hedrick was hired at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, a position he held for three years. Hedrick then moved on to the United States Air Force Academy, where he stayed for 12 years, the first three as an assistant and the final nine as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Upon leaving the Academy Hedrick worked at the National Strength and Conditioning Association for three years, both in the Human Performance Center and in the Education Department, before moving on to his current position. Hedrick, who was the NSCA’s Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2003, has been published over 100 times in various journals, has authored chapters in three text books related to strength and conditioning, authored two books, and has produced numerous DVD’s on various strength and conditioning topics. Hedrick, who is a Club Coach for USA Weightlifting, has produced athletes who have competed and medaled at both the American Open and the U.S. National Championships. Taylor was part of Siena Men's Basketball's historic three championships in a row (2008-2010) that led to two first round wins in the NCAA tournament (2008-2009.) Taylor previously worked with Men's and Women's Basketball at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York and with the New York Knicks during their training camps. Sorin and his father, Richard (founder of Sorinex), have been responsible for designing or developing some of the most useful training tools in the last three decades that have changed the training game. Bert and Richard run the manufacturing plant, as well as training center located in Columbia, South Carolina. Bert has competed at some of the highest levels of competition in these events, while compiling quite the list of awards and accomplishments. During his time at the University of South Carolina he was a four time Division I All-American in Track and Field (Hammer and 35lb weight throw) and also broke the Southeastern Conference record in the weight throw. Dr. Mark Kovacs is a renowned performance physiologist, researcher, university professor, author, speaker and coach with an extensive background training and researching athletes at all levels. He serves the iTPA membership as its Executive Director. He formally directed the Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning and Coaching Education departments for the United States Tennis Association (USTA). He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the ITPA. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts in top journals including the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine, Sports Health, International Journal of Sport Physiology and Performance, Strength & Conditioning Journal, Journal of Sports Science and Medicine among many others. He is currently the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Strength & Conditioning Journal and is on the editorial board for multiple other journals including the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. He has presented workshops and keynote addresses on four continents and well over 100 presentations. Along with his academic and scientific background Dr. Kovacs is also a coach and former professional athlete. He was an All-American and NCAA doubles champion in tennis at Auburn University. After playing professionally, he completed his graduate work at Auburn University and earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The University of Alabama. Dr. Kovacs is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a certified Health/Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, a United States Track and Field Level II Sprints Coach and Certified Tennis Coach. Dr. Kovacs along with the certification commission created the ITPA certification materials to help improve the way the physical aspects of tennis are trained throughout the world. He has published five books including Dynamic Stretching and Tennis Training: Enhancing On Court Performance. Dr. Mark Kovacs is a renowned performance physiologist, researcher, university professor, author, speaker and coach with an extensive background training and researching athletes at all levels. He serves the iTPA membership as its Executive Director. He formally directed the Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning and Coaching Education departments for the United States Tennis Association (USTA). He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the ITPA. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts in top journals including the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine, Sports Health, International Journal of Sport Physiology and Performance, Strength & Conditioning Journal, Journal of Sports Science and Medicine among many others. He is currently the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Strength & Conditioning Journal and is on the editorial board for multiple other journals including the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. He has presented workshops and keynote addresses on four continents and well over 100 presentations. Along with his academic and scientific background Dr. Kovacs is also a coach and former professional athlete. He was an All-American and NCAA doubles champion in tennis at Auburn University. After playing professionally, he completed his graduate work at Auburn University and earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The University of Alabama. Dr. Kovacs is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a certified Health/Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, a United States Track and Field Level II Sprints Coach and Certified Tennis Coach. Dr. Kovacs along with the certification commission created the ITPA certification materials to help improve the way the physical aspects of tennis are trained throughout the world. Mike Barwis is the founder and CEO of the Barwis Methods family of companies, including the Barwis Methods Training Centers. Mike is currently the Senior Advisor to the New York Mets. He was formerly the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the University of Michigan, where he was directly responsible for the development and implementation of the football strength and conditioning program. Barwis worked at West Virginia University for a period of 14 years. He was appointed the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic sports in 2000, during which time he supervised all the University’s sports programs excluding football. In 2003 Barwis assumed the responsibility for the Mountaineers football program, while maintaining his position with the Olympic sports. During his tenure at West Virginia University he designed and implemented programs for all of the Mountaineers 21 varsity sports. His last 5 years at WVU were widely considered to be the golden era in WVU athletics. Barwis has coached 32 National Strength and Conditioning (NSCA) All-Americans since 1999, and was one of 10 coaches to receive the 2002 Bronze Award from the NSCA certification commission. He has trained over 500 Olympic and professional athletes in over 40 sporting events. In addition, Barwis has been published in numerous journals, magazines, newspapers, written several books, and produced several videos. Barwis earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from the School of Medicine at West Virginia University and his Master’s Degree in Athletic Coaching with an emphasis in strength and conditioning. He also completed course work in the area of anatomy and physiology at Temple University.
