Lummox is an old friend who now runs ultras. He does it in his own way and trains mostly by himself. This is a great interview. I hope you like it. Thanks for listening to the podcast. Music by Garage Band and the U.S. Marine Band.

I had some tough back to back training weeks and achieved a new weekly mileage total as a result (60 miles). My Mississippi Trail 50 prep is going well and I'm pleased with my progress. But there is always something that can go wrong and my recent 26 mile training run had a few kinks. Thanks for listening to the podcast! I'm at the point in my training for my upcoming 50 miler where I need to put down at least 50 miles a week. It takes a lot of drive and motivation to do that week after week. I'm trying to figure out how to do it. That and more in this week's show. Thanks for listening! Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine.
I DNF'd at the Willis River 50k [Fat Ass] event on January 10 in Cumberland, Virginia. I have a slew of excuses! Not all was lost though. I did run/walk 35k and got to feel the nice feeling of winter creek water soaking through my shoes repeatedly. That and more in the show. Thanks for listening! Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine.
Is there really any purpose for glitter? This show lightly explores the topic of glitter with a little humor thrown in. Two guests stop in to share their opinions. Other topics are covered that have nothing to do with running such as Christmas parties, my "magic chair," and giving the gift of data. But since this is a running related podcast, I eventually get around to talking about running and included are my monster 48 mile training week and my lack of preparation for running in cold weather. This show is action packed and includes a special message of peace at the end for all listeners of the podcast. Thanks for downloading the show! In this special episode, I interview Bobby Gill who is the co-founder and chief operations officer for Cupid's Undie Run. The benefit run raises money for the Children's Tumor Foundation which funds research for treatments and finding a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF). Bobby graced the December 2015 cover of Runner's World. Maybe you've already seen it! Listen to Bobby talk about his work and why he does what he does. Double long run sandwiches are back and part of my training now for the forseeable future. I've got some big ultra races coming up in the next several months that require the bulk of my weekly mileage to be on the weekends. All about that and plenty more such as Racedots, really bad chafing, black toe, and weak feet in this latest edition of the Running in the Center of the Universe podcast! Thanks for downloading the show! Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine.
I had a fun time running the Richmond Half Marathon. If you've listened to the show then you know I wussed out and bagged running the full marathon because I had a hard time training in Virginia summer humidity. I think it was a blessing because I had a great experience running the half distance. And I think it might be my fall race for next year. Really fun! Download the show and judge for yourself. Thanks for coming along.Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine.
