Daily Quests - are they worth it? ShortCast! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:26

Hello there, Rewt here from HearthCast.com - today's topic is: Daily Quests!Daily Quests, or "dailies", are quests that you can do over again eachday, and are marked by a blue exclimation point over the quest giver. While the task can get to be routine after about the 3rd time, Blizzard has been kind enough to makes the Daily Quest Rewards substantial. With a limit of 25 dailies a day, and some of them paying upwards of 20gold a pop, it's easy to see that doing dailies for the gold alone is a smart thing. However, you also get a reputation bonus for whatever faction has thequest you're doing -  and that reputation bonus typically leads to somenice rewards! Opening up a vendor, quartermaster, additional quests, andeven discounted rates from other vendors in the area. The best advice I can give you is to schedule yourself and a friend towork on the same daily quests together. It makes the time go by faster, and you don't get bored.Hey, each and every Tuesday, Freckleface and I publish our full length podcast at HearthCast.com, full of insights, tips, information, and answers about the World of Warcraft. You can be part of our show byvisiting HearthCast.com and clicking on the "Be Part Of The Show" link.

What to wear? SwagDog knows the answer! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:10

Just the other day I was talking with Freckleface about WoW Apparel. T-Shirts... hats... I am in the market for something to display my love of the game with...The problem was that everything I saw was just  too... I dunno... geekish.  I don't mind my geek pride... If I did, I wouldn't want any WoW Apparelright now... but nothing I saw out there appealed to me.Until I saw what SwagDog is doing. They're letting you print your own custom shirt! You get your own shirt, with your guild's tabbard on it, yourserver name and your toon name... That, my friends, is very cool. When you visit their site (I put a link up on HearthCast.com), you'll just enter your realm name and your toons name... from there, it does the rest.Heck, it's fun just to play with the builder they have online... So, if you're in the market for a nice quality shirt or hat, or other apparel, and you want it to be something that is uniquely yours, then head overto HearthCast.com and click on the SwagDog link on the right hand side... tell them Rewt from HearthCast.com sent you.

Crashing The World of Warcraft Auction House - ShortCast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:57

This tip takes time, patience, gold, and the stomach to muster it.I've said before that the Auction House typically runs on a "supply and demand" rule set. This tip shows how to take advantage of that, and potentially crash the market.Let's take as an example, Heavy Borean Leather. Let's say it's selling for 40 gold for a full stack of 20, and you've got a bank full of them. List your first stack at market price - 40 gold. Your next stack, drop the price by a couple a gold or so. Same with your next stack... keep dropping the price by a gold or so for each listing. Now, the market price will be dropping each of your listings... it could potentially lose over 50% of it's actual market value. As the market price falls, people will be doing one of two things - listing their own Heavy Borean Leather, or buying yours. Either way, it's fine, as it will continue to keep the market price down. When it seems the price has hit a low enough range (you'll know because people will stop posting them for auction), buy out the remaining stock (which now should be around 50% under valued), and relist with it's normalmarket value. If you can plan this with a couple of friends who also have a bank full of the items, it's quite possible to completely crash the market for that item.

Fishing for Wishes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:35

If you've been to Dalaran, you've probably noticed that there's almost always people elbow to elbow with their fishing pole at the fountain. And while it might seem a little odd at the outset, from the fountain comes little nuggets of lore. You see, when you have your fishing skill high enough you can retrieve copper, silver, or gold coins from the fountain. Each of them have a wish from a character in World of Warcraft. Sure you can get them just for the achievement Coin Master - but if you take a moment to look at the coins you can get a little insight into the hopes and dreams of people who make up the story.  Beginning this Tuesday, each week our full length podcast will feature a segment in which we will examine a coin and see if the wish came true. Now if you're ready to fish these up yourself, patch 3.1 will make raising this secondary skill a whole lot easier. The cast time will be shorter, and you will be able to level from any location. Be sure to tune in this Tuesday for our Fishing for Wishes with Freckleface at hearthcast.com!

An Auction House Tip For Any Level | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08

When you're selling something on the Auction House that you can sell over and over again - like borean leather, take note of who isbuying it from you. If you've got a big buyer, send them a message andask them if they would prefer a more personalised level of service forthe purchasing of their materials. It's just a fancy way of saying you'll mail them the items directly using the C.O.D. system. I have done this time and time again in game - it's quick and easymoney, without the competition and fees the Auction House charges. Not to mention you get to meet some more people online.Hey, this Tuesday Freckleface and myself are back with another fulllength podcast right here @ hearthcast.com . Until then, enjoy the shortcasts we continue to bring you here at hearthcast.com

Rep Grinding: Home Cities - Shortcast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:51

In my last shortcast i talked about dailies for increaseing rep in factions of Northrend. But what about for your home city - where there are no dailies? You might be wondering what the benefit is. When you are exlated with all five of your home cities, you earn the title "Ambassador" This is one title that you don't need to do raids, pvp, or even be 80 to obtain. Also, now that the racial restrictions have been lifted  you have the option to buy over 30 different mounts.Just by doing the quests you need to level up, you will probably be at least at honored for each faction. Raising it to exalted will take a few steps. The easiest way is to complete skipped quest using your low level tracker. Begin in the starting areas and expand to the higher regions. generally the race of the quest giver will be an indication where it will give rep. Once you've completed all the quests you can find your rep will be based on donations. There will be a cloth quartermaster in the capital cities that will give you a quest to donate wool, then silk, then runecloth. After that, your last option is to continue to donate stacks of runecloth. assess how much rep you need given that you need given that it takes 12,000 to revered and 21,000 for exalted.  Divide that number by 75, and you can see how many stacks of runecloth you will need. And that's it. Keep tuning in for more tips and tricks from Freckleface and Rewt!

The Power of QOS - ShortCast: | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19

I used to hate Dalaran. In fact, I used to call it "Lag-a-ran". I didn't know where anything was, and boy did my frame rate drop when I would go there. My system is pleanty strong enough to handle it... so there must have been another issue... And there was.I noticed that when a particular program was running on my network -not on the same computer that WoW was running on - that I wouldlag a little no matter where I was... and that was the spark thatlit the fire. That program was set to use QOS - Quality of Service - through myrouter, to ensure it got what the bandwidth it needed from my network when it was running. I figured I could do the samething with WoW. WoW itself runs on port 3724. This means that by simply enablingQOS on that port will dramatically improve your gameplay. Blizzardhas a nice post up about it on their website. It's made a huge difference in my gaming experience, and I am sureit will for you too.Check out our full length podcast each and every Tuesday when Freckleface and myself unleash our WoW Goodiness on the masses. Thanks for listening, and we'll holler at ya next time.

Rep Grinding: Dailies in Northrend - ShortCast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45

I am super stoked! Being a gnome, sometimes the tall ones will spit on your head or try to punt you like a football. But now that I have my Ice Mammoth from the Sons of Hodir, I am so high off the ground everyone looks like ants to me!For me to be able to buy my mammoth, I had to do a lot of dailes first - and a lot of folks get overwhelmed at the prospect of going from neutral to exalted this way. Before beginning the daily grind for any faction, decide on what your goal is. If it's a particular item that is available at revered, it's probably not necessary to grind to exalted. And if you want to gain status because it counts toward an achievement, make sure you are willing to grind for the other factions as well. You can save yourself wasted hours by deciding what's the most important to you and what you don't need. When you go to do dailies, have an idea of what you want to complete and where the quests are located. Then you can make a convenient route that hits all the stops. Grab a friend if you can - it will go much faster. Keep an eye out for new quests that pop up when you hit a new level of rep, and check prices for tokens that you can turn in. Keep at it, and eventually you can get a lot of cool stuff. And as always, be sure to tune in  this coming Tuesday for a new episode with Freckleface and Rewt!  Happy grinding!

When to List What on the Auction House - ShortCast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24

Hello there, Rewt here from HearthCast.com bringing you another installment of our "Gimme a Minute" segment, where we take about a minute or so and share some World of Warcraft insights, intuition, information and perhaps some inspriration. While Auction Houses differ from realm to realm, the basic principles do not. Buy low, sell high, know how to spot a good deal, the art of relisting, cornering the market, short stacking, and all the other tricks of the trade remain pretty much the same. One constant I have observed across multiple realms is listing time. Knowing when to list what kind of items will help ensure a sucessful auction. Here's what I've found:Sunday-Wednesday: Items/Weapons/Armor - higher greens and blues. (Things people want)Thursday-Saturday: Materials and Reagents (Things people need)Also, on Fridays, there really is no need for a long auction on hot materials - you're just wasting your money.Hey, on Tuesday, Freckleface and I will be bringing  you our full length podcast, where we go into detail about different aspects of the World of Warcraft. If you'd like to be part of the show, drop us an email.~Rewt

 Fishing Around Azeroth - ShortCast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:33

So I'm finally getting into fishing. Yeah, at 80. But ya know, now it's something I get to level while waiting on people to get ready for a Raid... go figure.Anyhow, I noticed one of the problems with fishing is that you end up holding a Fishing Pole, opening yourself up to some easy ganking. So, I decided to make a macro that will equip my fishing pole while I fish, and at the press of a button, equip my main weapon./equip [noequipped: Fishing Pole, nomod:alt] Fishing Pole;/equip [mod:alt] Your_weapon_name_here/cast [equipped:Fishing Pole, nomod:alt] Fishing; Now I have a button to equip my fishing pole and cast my line, and if Ihold ALT when I click, I equip my weapon, and am ready to fight. It's also good to alt-click when I'm done fishing, just to be sure Iequip my weapon, too... don't want to get caught trying to down a mob with just a fishing pole!As always, Freckleface and I will be bringing you our full length podcast eachand every Tuesday - filled with comments, stories, questions, answers and interviews. If you'd like to participate in our podcast, feel free to send us an email.
