The Power of QOS - ShortCast:

HearthCast show

Summary: I used to hate Dalaran. In fact, I used to call it "Lag-a-ran". I didn't know where anything was, and boy did my frame rate drop when I would go there. My system is pleanty strong enough to handle it... so there must have been another issue... And there was.I noticed that when a particular program was running on my network -not on the same computer that WoW was running on - that I wouldlag a little no matter where I was... and that was the spark thatlit the fire. That program was set to use QOS - Quality of Service - through myrouter, to ensure it got what the bandwidth it needed from my network when it was running. I figured I could do the samething with WoW. WoW itself runs on port 3724. This means that by simply enablingQOS on that port will dramatically improve your gameplay. Blizzardhas a nice post up about it on their website. It's made a huge difference in my gaming experience, and I am sureit will for you too.Check out our full length podcast each and every Tuesday when Freckleface and myself unleash our WoW Goodiness on the masses. Thanks for listening, and we'll holler at ya next time.
