Guild Wars Reporter Episode 145 – Super Handsome Special Mystery Guest | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:47

Allona is all alone … or is she!? Wait! Is that a super handsome special mystery guest? Is it … is it Hunter!? It is! Hunter joins Allona to talk about game updates, the Stronghold beta (which Hunter loves) and the Maguuma Hylek! Audio Version What We Did This Week   Hunter If you check the LFG tool you can often find shovel parties being advertised. I went through the silverwastes chest farm where you find chests with shovels and open them with bandit keys. I ended up with about 80 champion bags, untold loots, and 18 obsidian shards. The best way to get obsidian shards without karma. Romo took me into his home instance which had every last damn thing. Made a couple ambrite weapons. Raided temples of Orr with my temple raiding guild. Zone completion with Allona Fungeons. slurms, kal, allona me and… celeste and M (Allona: and Rune Lockhart) Guild Missions. I’m typically very quiet during Maven’s Guild missions due to being recorded and wanting to avoid being last in Guild Rush. Have to concentrate. Plus those guys talk. A lot. Allona Fungeons and Fractals with MoCK! Got a couple fractals we haven’t got in a while … or possibly ever. :) As Hunter mentioned, some map completion … nice and relaxing! Finished the toy tonic collection … I can turn into a gift! Guild missions with Maven. 4th pace in the rush! Movin’ on up! Stronghold! I played several games on Tuesday. Once with Celeste! Then I played three with Aurora Peachy during her GW2 stream. We won two of those, so that was fun! I have a bit more to talk about with this, but I want to leave it for the show proper. Got T3 armour for my norn warrior 15K CHEST!!!!!   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. You can also subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on iTunes! H: When I first saw the title Maguuma Hylek Interview, I thought it was some role play interview with a Hylek villager or something. Anyway, McGough talks about Hylek, the new tribes, their mentality.

Guild Wars Reporter Episode 144 – Hype Train Whistle! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:17:47

Celeste and Allona are once again joined by Ultra to continue their learninating of WvW in the Surviving the Mists segment! There's also been several interesting news posts and an interview with Colin Johanson to discuss! Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Miscellaneous PvP, Temple runs, World boss run etc. All fun! I did my homework! On Monday I found a havoc group mostly from Helioz running around the Jade Quarry borderland. With their permission, I popped into their guild voice chat on TC’s mumble server to stay informed. I went in with my ranger who hasn’t been into WvW hardly at all, and I was new to havoc. Honestly, it was my favourite time I’ve ever had in WvW! Many thanks to Commander Lubefield and the rest of the havoc group, they were great to run with! Guild missions with Maven. I was in the single digits for the guild rush! Single digits! I beat Hunter! After guild missions went into PvP with an all ranger team. It was super trolly and hella fun! Celeste PvP friday morning? Did we do that this week? ((don’t remember)) Guildie, Mourning, showed me how to do the North Hills Defense portion of Tequatl so I can add that to my weird list of GW2 abilities Rinse, Repeat: World Boss, Dailies, Laurels and Money to T6 mats Down to the estimated cost being under 120G if I bought everything outright. PROGRESS! Only need to finish off 2 stacks of mats (claws and blood) and about 180 ecto   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. Under the steady hands of Matt Wuerffel and Jon Peters, the Heart of Thorns team collaborated, iterated, and executed on a series of features and themes that deliver our most satisfying and comprehensive gaming experience to date.” “For example, in Verdant Brink—the first map players encounter once they enter the Heart of Thorns—the wreckage of the Pact fleet serves as both terrain and a character, defining what sorts of activities and encounters players will find there.” C: I really like the idea of having an area be a character as well and I hadn’t thought of the meta event taking this sort of turn. It’s a pleasant surprise. Repeatable story instances explore different story branches with the same character without having to use an alt or you can replay it on alts to get a new experience because of different story experiences for different races Still no real word on if your first choice will be a “permanent” one for your story journal or if it will have repercussions later on in the storyline. Important side NPCs will be present through both the instances and open world experience of Maguuma C: Super big improvement to the personal story. I felt like the only NPC I ever cared about was Tybalt and now I hope to form a better relationship with other interesting and well-crafted characters. Hard mode achievements will be making a comeback A: If they have challenge motes I am totally down for this! Player characters are speaking again but in new and different ways   “They can have these exchanges while in motion or even in combat. Best of all, we are also now able to give each race their own distinct lines so that norn, sylvari, asura, human, and charr characters can speak like actual members of the unique cultures and societies from which they hail.”   Points of Interest with Scott McGough & Bobby Stein - Summary by Anatoli Ingram https://www.guildwars2.

Guild Wars Reporter Episode 143 – Legendary Corduroys! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:15

So much legendary news! Celeste and Allona thoroughly enjoy talking all about the news of GW2 on a lovely April 1! WE WERE AIRPLANES! In the words of Kalabajooie on Twitter: "Mnreeeeeow preeeoowwww pbbpbpbpbpbpttt mrrrrrooowwww!" Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona What the hell did I do this week? EVERYTHING. (Thanks, C!) More zone completion on Jerzzi with Hunter PvP baby! Fungeons … to paths of TA back to back … look at us being hard core! Guild missions with Maven … I didn’t lose the rush! But also didn’t win. :) I’M AN AIRPLANE! Celeste Traded all my candy corn for Halloween pails, more space = more money in the long term Rinse, Repeat: World Boss, Dailies, Laurels and Money to Tier 6 mats While this was happening I managed to finish my achievements under the Bosses category Spring Banking! I spent a fair chunk of time cleaning my bank and making sure that all my little mules were in order. Filled in all the spoons for the collection (aside from the rare ones) I WAS ALSO AN AIRPLANE   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. Mastery tracks are a new progression system being introduced in the expansion that will allow you to put experience earned toward training specific abilities once you hit level 80.” GuildMag - “it’s worth noting that it’s been confirmed that the two different Mastery zones (Pact Tyria and Heart of Maguuma) will have separate pools for points, so you won’t have to make the tough choice between legendary crafting and gliding.” “the first three tiers are dedicated to guiding you through the three tiers required to craft the first set of precursors that were introduced with the original release of Guild Wars 2. Completing the first tier allows you to unlock the start of a journey to acquire any of these original-release precursors by visiting the Mastery vendor and choosing which precursor you want to work on first.” C:  Mastery vendor? Is this the equivalent of a traits trainer for post 80? “Each legendary weapon has two main themes that will be represented in the precursor journey. The first tier of a precursor journey starts with a collection built around one of these themes.“ Example is The Moot - (first of all the fact that these collections are based on the legendary weapon and components coming together in a more logical way is awesome) A norn celebration Hunting prowess and collecting trophies “By completing this [first] collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin.” ex: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=35900 The 2nd Tier - “You’ll need to barter for knowledge, seek out great minds and convince them to teach you their tricks, and prove your ability at the crafting workbench.“ “Completing this collection unlocks a recipe to do just that, resulting in another nontradable exotic weapon with the existing precursor skin.” The final tier is about making sure that the precursor is true to its theme, for the moot that’s about partying. “This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become.“ Updating skins for existing precursors to be more awesome

New Segment! When was the last time THAT happened!? Celeste and Allona welcome Ultra and his new segment Surviving the Mists; where, this week, we learn all about the basics of WvW! GW2 news may also have been discussed to some extent. Audio Version What We Did This Week   Ultra Everything. Dungeons - helped my brother get mad moon! WvW - been a good week for FC PvP - played a bit of guardian and engi Got my 7th level 80 New armor skinz!!!! Allona Mostly just toodling around Some PvP No fungeons for me this week … I miss them! Hunter, Inks and I ran M and Cal through the Silverwastes JP. Hunter and I were on our mesmers and Hunter had to portal me more than any other person. Also I think I was the only one to fall to my death … repeatedly. Got the diving achievement at the end of the JP and GOT IT THE FIRST TIME! EIOFUCM8R.TYG;G G;N RHTPRIH;IRJ!!!!!!!! M jumped off without knowing what she was doing and got it … which was kind of amazing. Guild missions with Maven. Celeste Rinse, Repeat: World Boss, Dailies, Laurels and Money to T6 mats   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. What you saw today was the first test in solving some of these problems.” A: WOOOOOOOO! A: OOOOOOOOOOOO! A: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!   Stress Test http://www.killtenrats.com/2015/03/25/gw2-let-me-stress-this-amazing/ Advancing condi stacks playing beta on the live client leads to the advancement of technology to create zones within the live client that play by different rules also opens it up to be a lot more accessible if you don’t have to download a beta client No concurrent testing of the new borderlands or pvp map   Bass Guitar, Mad Scientist Mining Tool https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/musical-bass-guitar-and-mad-scientists-mining-tool-in-the-gem-store/ Bass Guitar - 800 Mad Scientist Mining Tool - 1000 50% off the salvager’s supplies - this ends up being a pretty good deal for all that’s in it - copper-fed salvage, silver-fed salvage, 3 upgrade extractors, 3 claim ticket scraps, 25 salvageable hides, 25 valuable metal scraps, 25 discarded garments, 25 equipment bags - 1360 gems   “New” Dailies https://huntersinsight.wordpress.com/2015/03/22/a-dragon-eating-its-own-tail/ A: I’ve had a sticky note on my monitor for going on near a month to talk about the recentish dailies change and how they’ve been received after some time has passed. Hunter beat me to it! I think one of the main objectives with these changes was to get people moving into areas of the game people have forgotten about or avoided in the past. Specific tasks in specific areas instead of a la carte options that allow a lot of choice. There were a lot of varied opinions however, some people outright hating the change, many pleased by the streamlining, and me, I thought it was a waste of effort and that Arenanet could better spend their time on other projects that need work. But there’s no use crying over spilt dolyak milk, we’ve got new dailies. Have I been enjoying them? Actually, yes, I suppose so. Arenanet has moved the goal posts, reorganized my objectives, I’ve got busy work to do! But not just any busy work, this busy work is different busy work than the busy work I was doing before! It’s “new content” without any actual new content and they’ve bribed us with rewards to accept it. You get more achievement points, more laurels than previously, and certainly a wider variety of goods. Daily rewards are much better too.

 Guild Wars Reporter Episode 141 – It’s a Whole New World… | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19:02

Celeste and Allona have a LOT to discuss about the WvW news from Rezzed in the UK, dribs and drabs from Pax East, and the (sort of) surprise patch with camera changes n' more! Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Finally had the icky “PvP experience” with an abusive player. JOY! Bought T3 cultural for Allona Made an ascended scepter, again for Allona … She’s starting to look nouveau riche gauche Ran a rare afternoon run of Fractals with Hunter, Misforawesome, ToughLoveCritic and RuneLockhart Did zone completion in Lornar’s Pass with M and Hunter on some of our alts. It was relaxing and fun … I forgot how much I like LP! Ran a few World Bosses with the new camera settings. WOW! Bonus: being able to target waaaay easier! This thing came out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfrpnZXW-VA Fun Fact: Allona’s nail polish is... A: It’s Dragon … the brand is ‘a england’ if anyone’s interested. :) Celeste out of nowhere got my 9k chest. World Boss Training Camp - beat all the bosses, salvage the rares if they’re worth less than an ecto cost and then sell everything else. This is helping me to buy/sell T6 mats and get my ectos together for the final steps of Frenzy. Recorded a lot of stuff in First Person View and did a little research http://gwreporter.tumblr.com/post/113876248343/id-like-to-share-some-factoids-about-divinitys P.S.  Guild Wars Reporter Episode 140 – Allonus Paximus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:21

Allona gushes FOREVER to Celeste about her time at PAX East! They go on to talk about beta news, eventual camera changes, the gem store, and answer some lovely listener questions (or get ringers to answer them). Also Pax. Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Legen --- wait for it --- dary! … I have The Minstrel now! And managed it without breaking the bank … One lovely listener, Kendall, sent me 10 ectos (thanks so much!) but other than that I did it all on my own, which felt great! My heart was pounding as I was putting all the (crazy expensive) components into the Mystic Forge. PAX Thursday: Drive down with Inks of YouTube’s MMOInks and the lovely, Mrs. Inks. Got lied to by TomTom and go further south than we needed. Have a hilarious drive through Boston. Find hotels. Collapse. Friday: Hooked up with and obtained our passes from Opt from TWiT guild. Visit Anet booth, which looked amazing! Met Rubi, Stephane, and Gaile! (May have squee’d internally) Randomly found Chris as he was barrelling from one panel to the next! Visited with Jawa from chat room (surprise!) and his family! I was super jazzed! Went to the GW2 community party in the evening! It was wonderful! Talked with some amazing devs Leah Rivera, Elisabeth Claire, Hugh Norfolk, and some guy named Colin! Met Jebro (Daniel Littleton) and Kaelaris (James Carrol) who are really nice guys and were gracious in the face of my obvious ignorance of the competitive PvP scene! And that’s not even going into all the other fans of the game (like myself) I knew through twitter and in-game that I got to meet in person for the first time! It was a pretty special time. Saturday: Ball of nerves. Mostly worried about the interview we got with the devs. Thankfully it turned out to be a demo with Matt Wuerfell and Jon Peters and they did nearly all the talking while I tried to make my way through the first instance in HoT on the Revenant! I am SUPER reliant on my gaming gear … when people watch the video -- when it’s ready(tm) -- I hope they take that into account! I don’t want to go into too much detail here about the demo though. I watched two WTS matches, both won by The Dankening and it was quite exciting to be there for the live competition! Went to the panel Censored! about creative freedom in the videogame industry and it was illuminating and fascinating! https://youtu.be/4UEn6hsVZBU Sunday: Ate the largest burger of my life! Watched the final two games of WTS. Wow! They were incredible! GW2 has them on their channel if you’re interested in watching them. Helped record the Day 3 PAX video with Chris and Harry of MMO Reporter. And finally stood in line for an hour+ to try out Stronghold. John Corpening was talking with people near the head of the line so I got to chat with him for quite a while. He was happy that I have a new-found love of Skyhammer! He also gave me a really great rundown of the mechanics of the new map (and then stood behind me and coached me through the whole match! I just happened to be opposite Inks while he was streaming the match on GW2’s twitch stream so there’s proof of my team’s victory! (http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/634462393 - starts around 24:30) There was only one group that got to play after us … so that was cutting it pretty close to the wire! Monday: Drive home! Sleep forever. Celeste Family playday! I rerolled Steak N Potato Man again and we all played through Wayfarer Foothills, Ben on a Guardian (which he’s still not sure he likes) and Kiddo on a Staff Ele that I think he’s getting pretty good at. A: Because of Pax, I need to make Burger ‘n Tots Gal! Selling, Buying, and Trading. Filling in my T6 mats so I can catch up to Allona. Though I’m still seriously considering selling it once it’s done. Money is a lot more solvent and I may like one of the new legendaries a lot more. This seems like a much better idea now that I’m sitting below 10g.

 Guild Wars Reporter Episode 139 – Post-Searing Fissure | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:39

Celeste and Allona finally get their short show! Sorta… They discuss Points of Interest briefly, Tuesday's patch, answer some (wonderful) listener queries, and ponder whether echoing eruptions or searing fissures are reasons to see a doctor. Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Had an amazing Silverwastes run. I was in the zone getting my MF as high as I could get it and just happened to have basically the perfect Silverwastes experience. Everything went so smooth! sidenote: one other time in SW I was running to help a pack dolyak. The dolyak event bugs out just as I notice another player is also there, and it’s Jalinar from Chronicles of Tyria! We chatted, laughed at the dolyak, exchanged muffin recipes. You know, regular stuff. Guild missions with Maven which was a lot of fun! PvPed some more. Still a Dolyak! I had a great interaction with someone from the other team in Skyhammer! Trucking along on mah Legendary progress. It’s drawing ever closer! Bought the ram balloon … it makes me unreasonably happy MADE THE BEE GUN!!!! Celeste Special thanks to Chonmaho for sending me a bonetti’s the day after the show last week. It was very sweet :) Steak N Potatoes Man has been reborn for another keyfarm, this time as a Charr Ranger Played with my son through Queensdale for a bit. Helped him with his personal story. He actually really likes the story and reads through all the text. Good on you, writers! (He asked me what an oligarchy was >.

 Guild Wars Reporter Episode 133 – Hello, Deer! (OR… Let’s Speculate, Liches!) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:11

Celeste and Allona are well rested and ready to get this new year started! Luckily there was a fair bit to talk about, including the recent trailer for the final installment of Season 2: Point of No Return! Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona As seen on our Twitch livestream: Wintersday Success! 13.5K chest! Honestly, did a little (or a lot in some cases) of everything … including -- duh duh duuuh -- PvP! On PvP: I am genuinely surprised how much fun it is! Obviously, I’ve only played unranked arenas, but the atmosphere has been a lot friendlier than I expected. There has been some stupid map/team chat for sure, but it is way more infrequent than I expected. Currently rank 19 / Deer! Celeste and me are the saaaaammme! (C: We’s the same! Almost, I’m rank 18) - and I finished TWO reward tracks already! Wintersday was first and I chose the rhime-rimmed aqua breather (NO REGRETS!!!); and the Kryta track because I wanted to start unlocking the regional tracks. On that one I got me very first ascended ‘drop’ from one of the champ bags!!!! The Red Ring of Death. \o/ Made 2nd mesmer (Sad Half Jump McGee) Bought a fair amount of things (both on sale and not … bought the Arctic explorer’s outfit right before it went on sale ~table flip~ Re-did Tilde, my warrior: New hair, new armour skin Made the ascended tempered spinal blades! Weeeeeeee! Guild missions with TWiT guild Temple run with Hunter Fungeons and Fractals … whew! Celeste Wintersday Stuff Jumping Puzzle Pain… More than 140 attempts and I never even got the middle of it Wintersday Meta done & Hungry Star thing (which is crappy b/c I made a bunch of stars for my November monthly and now I don’t have any fragments, and I think I could break them down but I don’t want to take a loss) Ended up choosing the medium rebreather, I’m going to use it on my engineer I think Also got a Mini Princess Doll b/c they’re pretty adorable. Finished my December Monthly after much harassment from Hunter (edit: and Allona) 8.5k chest Did some Thief PvP… Ok, more than “some” I’ve had a bit of luck with the class but I’m definitely not the best thief on my team, even when I’m the only thief on my team.   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. A: Agreed. It’s been a consistent companion to this season which has been a good move. “Time is running out: the Pact Fleet is poised to launch, and Glint’s egg is still missing. You have one last memory seed to plant, and the search through Caithe’s past has led you to a cave sealed shut with strange magic. The time for truth has come. Find a way to break the seal, enter the cave, and learn what happened all those years ago.” Giant undulating purple flower thing? C: Oh that’s supposed to be the thing we scouted for? Braham, Eir, Zoijja, and Logan together at the Pact camp Ascension runes on the serpent wall thing and a portal that goes… somewhere. A: Wooden Potatoes made a really good point about the serpents: The Forgotten (a race of snake people) governed the rights of ascension in GW1: Prophecies OMFG. OMFG. OMFG. HYPE TRAIN. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Turai_Ossa Is that Turai Ossa in the Priory?! A: That does seem to be the prevailing theory! Which … EEEEEEEEEEE! Caithe and her weird eyes in the past, assuming it’s the seed we get to plant next Lane fighting to a new world boss encounter? A: MMO Inks on The Salvage Kit has speculated this could be a Marionette 2.0 style fight. Vines in camp resolve… surprising no one. The Return of Mini Mordy
