Guild Wars Reporter 2014 Predictions Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:23

Join Celeste, Allona, and special guest, Hunter, in their annual New Year Predictions show. See who was right last year and make your own predictions about what we’ll see in 2015 for Guild Wars 2! Audio Version Last year...   Chris’ Predictions Living story release schedule will slow down, and a move to more permanent content with smaller “throw away” living story elements. We will see our first instanced group content for more that 5 in 2014. (i.e. Raid in an instance, not in the world) To go along with the raid, the capability to form groups larger than 5 will be introduced. There will be a new weapon for each class (and skills to go with it!) introduced. (Not quite wrong but wrong on the date) There will be fractal versions of the Living Story available for play through at player’s convenience. WuvWuv season two will not happen until later in 2014 (after summer) Edge of the Mists will not take off, and players will simply use it as a static staging point for WuvWuv Celeste’s Predictions More fractals, of things that are not in either gw1 or gw2’s normal purview. perhaps Dessa will be able to focus the mists into the... future! All the way to the year 2000! The feature only release scheduled for early in the year will include raids and improved player housing with a premium area similar to the Royal Pass. In a shocking move, next year’s Jubilee will also be the celebration of Logan and Jennah’s marriage. This will incur my most swift wrath. To replace Scarlet, we’ll finally get to see the Mursaat come into the Human territories. Spoilers: They’re still pissed that we opened the Door of Komalie and let the Titans through. The Inquest will succeed in perfecting a way to harness/utilize the magic of a dragon (I think Primordius is an interesting possibility) and turn one of its lieutenants on the world Due to massive complaints about the Living Story’s poor writing, it will be abandoned and a monthly quality of life update will be the norm between expansions. Legendary armor components will be found within a continent-wide scavenger hunt. Twitter Predictions Allona - “I predict the next elder dragon we face will be a dragon made of budgies!” for the reason of “It would be terrifying ... AND adorable.” Peter Fries - “I predict that shenanigans will ensue” Who was right last year Peter Fries… and that seems a bit unfair. Celeste was kinda right, in that there is a theory that one of the fractals is a futuristic rata sum. This year… Allona’s Predictions Expansion I know they seem to be moving away from underwater content, but I would love to see an underwater city … perhaps Largos! They will never allow mounts in the game New weapons and professions Season one becomes available to replay in a much abbreviated form, with none of the big events or dungeons … more of a playable recap (but with some of the rewards you can’t get in game) Secondary profession options could be added to expand build diversity and weapon options They will make a QoL update that allows you to right click a stack of items to either ‘consume all’ or ‘open all’.   Hunter’s Predictions Expansion announcement imminent. With such a small team working on the living story, the majority of Arenanet have to have been working on something larger for quite some time, at the very least I think we should start hearing about an expansion within the next few months, with a demo at PAX East in March. New zones in the expansion will tend to be a lot like Dry Top and Silverwastes. A much more focused experience where people work together across the zone to accomplish a goal, unlock a raid, trigger a meta event, etc.  No hearts (they’ve said as much). I think they’ll continue to mess with verticality quite a bit, Silverwastes and Dry Top  have a huge amount of space underground and high in the air.  As well I think there will be further zones with a lot of desert in them,

Why did Caithe take the egg? And, more importantly, how do you catch a thief?” The follow-up to this is To catch a Thief you must become a thief.” Which, thanks to Caithe’s skills I think is the number one reason why there are new Thieves EVERYWHERE. Rewards Continue collecting Carapace and Luminescent armor with the addition of heavy, medium, and light boots and leg armor. Earn pieces of Carapace leg armor by completing the Seeds of Truth storyline. Extra pieces can also be purchased for bandit crests. Carapace boots can be found in Lost Bandit Chests.  Guild Wars Reporter Episode 129 – Big Talk in Little Patch | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:47

Tangled Paths patch has dropped! Celeste and Allona talk about it! They have fun! And a small rant. (Psst … spoilers) Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Played a lot in the Silverwastes … the more I’m there, the more I like it. Achievement Saturday! Marathoned a TON of achievements (story and zone) and am a mere sliver away from my 12.5K chest … like, around 15 points. Bought T3 cultural armour for the very first time. For my wee Asura necro. She looks AMAZING and I don’t regret that it took half my money. Did guild missions with Wardens of Destiny AND Maven … Tons of fun and both great groups of players. Played Tangled Paths. More on that later in the show. Celeste Messed about in Silverwastes, got the lost badges cheevo done, got 8k chest did some cheevos on the older LS episode. Got super upset about the patch and the way it unlocks living story episodes. I promised Ben I’d log in to his account to unlock the living story chapter, he’s been on a break because he doesn’t want to progress in the story until he can replay season 1. (Yes He knows it’ll take a LONG time before this happens), I logged in on Tuesday morning, WAY before the patch is set to launch and Echoes of the Past was already locked behind the gem paywall. I understand that 200 gems is cheap, but I DID log in before the next patch. So it’s frustrating to see that this is the way it works when it was advertised differently. “Please keep in mind the chapter Echoes of the Past ended on November 18th. After that day, any player who would like to play it needs to pay 200 gems. Thank you for your understanding on the matter. Should you have any other doubts or concerns, please let us know.” When I asked for clarification as to when (time-wise) I would need to log in in order to prevent the problem from happening again I was told that information would/could (it wasn’t clear) not be made available to me. Best advice? Log in on the day of the patch, every time. Playing through Episode 6, Tangled Paths   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. You can also subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on iTunes! Remember to rate and/or review Guild Wars Reporter.   Report from Lion’s Arch   Patch Notes http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2014-11-18 The war against Mordremoth rages on in the Silverwastes as a new mystery arises. The Zephyrite Master of Peace has taken his precious cargo beyond the front lines. Where has he gone, and what answers will he give if he’s found? With the release of "Tangled Paths," players can continue to build their Carapace and Luminescent armor sets by collecting the light, medium, and heavy gloves. Carapace gloves are obtained by completing the new Silverwastes reward track, completing the storyline, and exploring the Silverwastes. No longer do you get another chest with completing the story on an alt… to be fair though, people have reported getting the chest that contains them from doing open world events and from opening chests in the labyrinth. (More information: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2mrbb6/psa_carapace_glove_boxes_drop_from_the_nightmare/) Explore the newly discovered labyrinth, and find nightmare pods full of rich rewards. The greater nightmare pod contains rare and masterwork gear, dragonite ore, and a chance to discover new recipes for Bountiful and Furious Maintenance Oils, Sharpening Stones, and Tuning Crystals. To open them you’ll need to combine a nightmare fragment (found in the labyrinth) with a bandit skeleton key. Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug that prevented players from assigning, removing, or reassigning healing, utility, or elite skills while in a cosmetic transformation (e.g., during the siege of Ascalon in the Urban Battlegrounds fractal). A: Yay! I had this happen in the Thaumanova fractal and it was irritating.

Celeste is nearly completely (almost) healthy and rejoins Allona to go over the week's plethora of news. We also get to hear Celeste's thoughts on episode 5! Go 5! Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Forgot to mention last week that I got my 12K achievement! Finished monthly Got back to levelling my thief … trying to get back in the swing of that gameplay Played in Silverwastes and got more of a handle on the mechanics there. It’s hella fun! Celeste Played through Ch 5 last Thursday and got very frustrated with the facet of light. Did it on Saturday like it was easy peasy. Sigh. Thankfully you guys hadn’t discussed the big reveal at the end of the last story chapter so I was spoiler free (A: totally an accident!). Though I do have to brag that most of my predictions were right. Messed around in Silverwastes, mostly just clearing keeps (solo) and finishing up the (temporary, as it will definitely be expanding) map completion Upgraded my engi’s gear now that she’s 80.   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. You can also subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on iTunes! Remember to rate and/or review Guild Wars Reporter. Report from Lion’s Arch   Interview with the Living World Team http://www.guildmag.com/lore-interview-september-2014/ Angel McCoy (Writer), Scott McGough (Writer), Bobby Stein (Writing Team Lead), and Leah Hoyer (Narrative Director) GuildMag: Are the Seraph still interested in investigating the copper smuggling ring, or have they now decided they’ve done all they need to there? ArenaNet: The Seraph have their hands full with spreading Mordrem. Suddenly, the smuggling ring seems much less important. They have not, however, forgotten them. They continue to track the ring as best they can, but the ring’s members scattered to the wind because of Mordrem. C: I wonder if the White Mantle are after Copper for some reason or if it’s just a way to fund themselves. GuildMag: Councilor Phlunt’s claiming of Taimi’s device has stirred some controversy among the fanbase, but as yet we don’t have much context to judge what exactly happened. What usually happens with a prodigy’s invention when it is claimed by their college in this way, particularly (as is important for asura) when it comes to assigning credit? ArenaNet: While an asura is a student, any device they invent can be seized by and belongs to the college. This works on the same principal as company proprietorship over anything you invent while working for that company. The college has the right to further research the device and to employ it in any way they see fit. The fact that Phlunt is also claiming some credit for the invention is just because Phlunt is a jerk. C: If you go through the Silverwastes you’ll run into Zoijja who makes it pretty clear that everyone who matters knows that it was Taimi’s device. (As seen on Peachy) GuildMag: What is the relationship, if any, between the skritt of Skrittsburgh in Brisban Wildlands and the skritt of Dry Top? ArenaNet: The skritt of Dry Top are cut off from everything in Brisban Wildlands—on purpose. They came out here to make their own community. They’re oddballs and have no reason to go back to Skrittsburgh at this time. C: This is particularly interesting given WoodenPotatoes’ prediction that the skritt holes in dry top are all connected and that a majority of the map is actually at the “below” ground level. (video: http://youtu.be/mJ_HGsbsFcY) GuildMag: When the Mordrem attacked Fort Salma, their goal seemed obvious – krait obelisk shards were being stored there. However, their targets at Concordia and Iron Marches are not as clear; though we see caravans moving magical artifacts, they don’t seem something to be powerful enough to merit the Mordrem’s distant attention compared to, for example, the Durmand Priory or Rata Sum. What were the Mordrem after in those two places?

Celeste is back! She and Allona gush over the new trailer for Echoes of the Past, recent Points of Interest, and all the delicious lore bombs! Even more awkward than ‘hero-tron’ ... The relationship and the way that Taimi has shaken up the interactions has changed the way we’re involved as players in game There’s a lot of potential for some really interesting story as the dynamic works Ceara to Scarlet transition via hologram was creepy/awesome This is the first time we’ll be physically around when an Elder Dragon awakens Every other instance had happened in between GW1 and GW2 16:17: Colin “From a story perspective it’s nuts to think about… Eotn ended on- you got that moment of seeing the first dragon awakening, you see Primordus. We later get to experience the stories of what each of them awakening did. Zhaitan raised an entire continent and caused destruction all across the world. Kralkatorrik flew across and created The Brand and found and killed Glint. Jormag, you know, did massive destruction across the Northern Shiverpeaks, drove the Kodan from their home, killed the Norn and drove them South. The depths that each of these dragons and their awakening has changed the world of Tyria just phenomenally and most of that happened between the end of GW1 and the start of GW2. This is really our chance to be there on the front lines as a dragon awakens, the people of Tyria realize how big of a deal that is and they want to go in and stop it before it’s too late, before that catastrophic destruction happens. I think we’ve seen just the very beginnings of that, the tendrils reaching out in the world and the waypoints, that was kind of a first step into what Mordremoth might do and [it was] awesome that we were able to slow that down and slow the speed of his growth out into the world. It’s going to be really fun to explore that story as we go forward of what is it like as a dragon awakens, what does it mean for the world, can we get there and deal with him before his catastrophic-- his nukes go off, so to speak, on the world” 17:44 Ogden’s benediction and the way that your character and heroes are involved is closer to the way we’re interacting with the player lore A lot of lore threads from GW1 are being pulled forward and in to GW2 with the rest of the season. Colin specifically mentions the names of the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) to drive this point home. “The remaining episodes of season 2 are some of the most interesting, lore wise, of anything we’ve ever done.”

Celeste and Allona talk about Guild Halls, Guild Raids, and Guild Wars 2! Audio Version What We Did This Week Allona So close to Mawdrey, just need the Captured Light (Quick shout out to GMs Ginger, Khal, and Shaolin Shadowboxing for looking in to my “missing” germinated foxfire cluster. In which I was an idiot and they were very kind to not actually point that out.) Wuvwuved with Wardens of Destiny Guild Missions with Maven Bittermalted a bit, also helped Panther unlock some traits for one of his new Bittermalts … yes, ONE of his Bittermalts I feel like I’m missing stuff! aaahhhhh … shows every two weeks is hard! Celeste Kinda, sorta, working on mawdrey working on getting my engi to 80. currently at 73, I had gained quite a few levels in EoTM on Friday subsequently I’ve seemed to bump into every rookie commander and HUGE zergs. Did a keyfarm with my charr ranger, didn’t get crap from the chest but the levelling rewards are quite decent   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. Allona’s Favourites: Let every guild get a guild hall automatically, for free, when they hit 20 members Visitor’s Area or Public Room of Guild Halls openly accessible to all players once built. Zone to recruit/show off. Hall of Portraits: a gallery of portraits of the members Least Favourite: remove fairly large swaths of underwater areas to accommodate Guild Hall placement in the game world ~A: I love underwater ... C: Just make it like SeaLab (2021)! Underwater (but not) guild halls!   Guild Raids CDI Incoming http://blacklionchest.co.uk/posts/guild-raids It was also the topic of #QuestionSunday over on DragonSeason’s twitter https://twitter.com/DragonSeasonCom/status/518831488054611969 https://twitter.com/djperkysaurus/status/518845163201122304 “guild only instance events you  buy with merits and drop cool deco for guild halls.” https://twitter.com/MysticalMesmer/status/518930295236476928 “I don't see raids being substantially different from existing fights.” A: Honestly, I’m not overly excited about raids. I never got to the point of WoW in being able to play them. They always seemed to be the divider line between elite players and … non … elite players. Now, GW2 is a very different game, so I would figure they would work very hard to make sure community is maintained if raids get introduced. I suspect they would be something that I just wouldn’t get to play … at least not with my smaller guilds. Unless they work them like a regular dungeon that can work with 5+ players and then scale up as more people enter? I can see that working pretty well. Okay, I talked myself into being a little intrigued by this … C: I have the feeling that even if these are added to the game in some form or fashion it will end up being a game mode,

Celeste and Allona scour the internet for GW2 stuff to talk about! Scour! Until their fingers and eyes bled! Audio Version What We Did This Week Allona Got the Mysterious Vine completed and now on to Mawdrey … hopefully will have that done this week! Need better foxfire luck though! Wuvwuv’ed … I was terrible and died a lot, but it was a bunch of fun. Fungeoned a few times … including last night … in the middle of the night. It was random and I am paying for it today Related to Fungeons: Got enough Seals of Beetletun for a Gift of the Nobleman … one tiny step closer to The Minstrel ... Bought the eyepatch and pirate outfit when they were on sale. Was super tempted by the home portal stone, but missed it. Bought BL Keys. Got crap. Was irritated. Which made me realize that, if I spent the time and keyfarmed and got crap, I was “Oh well.” but buying them with my real-world-i-could-buy-groceries money it REALLY upsets me when I get poo. My own fault for buying them in the first place, I know... Heck, odds are you remember her if you've been at all active in the community for Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 over the past decade; she's worn many community-facing hats over the years. She's donning a new one now, or perhaps more accurately re-donning an old favorite, as game support lead Michael Henniger recently took to the forums announcing that Gray has moved from customer support to the community team. Community interactions were a large part of Gray's role when the original Guild Wars launched, and long-time fans in the thread are happy to see her making the move. If you had a sudden sweep of nostalgia, you're not alone. A bit more info on Gaile: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gaile_Gray Gaile served as the Community Relations Manager for Guild Wars through the majority of the game's active development. Working with a set of tools that the other programmers have made for them proprietary. How long? All the days. Peter: Chauncey von Snuffles III love child of Matt Laufer (sp?) and Peter, “the people’s hero” The whole conversation has not been revealed. Working title for the party: “Filthy, filthy, dirty ministers.” Wrote the head caterer. To clarify the avatar is simply a representation of the big tree Q: can you tell us if we’re going to be seeing the mursaat again (crystalline city in the vision)? peter: “we’re going to find out in the next episode some of what's going on in that vision” roleplay in the pale tree - speculation of events in real time in game in character we will be seeing more of canach - canach & annise dialogue for the awesome/win speculation: how you dare think taimi of doing anything untoward! taimi is Taz’s daughter, from the look on leif’s face i would say no. A: Funny, I was thinking the opposite phlunting booth - dunking booth Pie vs cake, Peter: Pie Kate: Cake Allona: Team Custard! (it can be in both pie AND cake and therefore wins) seed of speculation with all the world leaders aligned with mordy as the greatest threat, what is the plan to eliminate that threat? (CONFIRMATION: Mordy is an “it” i.e. without gender) can the pale tree and her vision be trusted? what brought trahearne back? Popular demand!  Guild Wars Reporter Episode 119 – Chauncy is the third-fanciest party guest | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:19

Celeste and Allona recap The Dragon's Reach: Part the Deuce (spoilers ahoy, ye be warned) and speculate on the upcoming September Feature Patch. Audio Version What We Did This Week   Allona Casually happened onto an active Tequatl map … that was successful! Some light keyfarming, one run with listener, Cara(?) -- which was super cool. kvgh ighhn;gs hm lra! LIGHT OF DWAYNA backpiece! It is gorgeous! It makes me gorgeous! And the only reason I was able to finish it this soon (soon being relative) was due to some incredibly generous people. Thank you thank you thank you! Living World … all solo … owie owie owie Explored the new region of Dry Top Celeste More Keyfarming Living Story   Livestreaming Wednesday’s at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST at twitch.tv/mmoreporter. Patreon thanks: Special thanks to Martin for being generous and contributing to our Patreon campaign, we truly appreciate your support.   Report from Lion’s Arch   The Dragon’s Reach Part 2 https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/august-12-2014/ https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-12-2014 There’s a nasty rumor going around about the Queen Phlunt takes Taimi’s WP recalibration device Taimi reacts, as a child would, and runs Unfortunately the Inquest runs into her first We finally get all the damn bureaucrats to the summit (apparently Asura & Humans aren’t trustworthy?) Shadow of the Dragon shows up and tries to kick ass We kick its butt but The Avatar of the Pale Tree is weakened Mysterious Seed backpiece expansion Feed it your bloodstone dust PvP reward track for Arid Region - Maguuma Jungle & Maguuma Wastes (thanks for pointing out to me M, I totally skipped it ~C) From the game patch notes - I’m really interested to replay The Battle of Claw Island because the audio has been revamped. A: I am really interested in this as well, and my warrior is on this bit in her personal story!   Our thoughts on this episode Allona’s thesis: My high level review is that I felt really satisfied by this episode, both in what we learn and what we had to do; and in where it leaves off considering we are going in to a mid-season break. Specifically: I LOVED Canach and Annise, like, a lot. I also liked the many hints being dropped  (coughLiviacoughwhitemantlecough) … remember Angel McCoy said they only put stuff in if it’s important! I enjoyed the mechanics of the party (side note: the random NPC dialogue was fantastic!). The only thing was it took a while for me to figure out that I had to linger around groups for the trigger to question someone to appear, but not before I ran from circle to circle chasing the disappearing green stars on the mini map for way too long a time! The middle part with Taimi was fun, but a bit less interesting than the rest of the episode (sorry Taimi! I still lurves you!), well, other than Phlunt. Normally Asura are still fun and charming when they’re jerks, but not this guy. Love to hate Phlunt. The summit was cool and, man, that last fight! I had broken armour! It’s been AGES since I’ve had broken armour! It didn’t help that I was running an alternate build for the bulk of it. It got much easier after I broke combat (ie: hid in a corner) and switched back to ol’ reliable. As far as the final vision: I’m still digesting that. It almost looked like the vines were choking out crystals … Is Mordy going to remove Kralkatorrik for us? The pact might send it a thank you note since K was next on their hit list. Celeste: It works. It was good. I didn’t like that Phlunt was a jerkface, I didn’t like that we had to go back and deal with political crap. I realize that this just goes along with needing to be the lead character (http://thepaletree.net/2014/08/13/shadows-have-fallen/).
