Michael Jordan Teaches EMS: Episode 163 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 8:44

If we look at the wide world of sports, we can see metaphors for the way we should be teaching in EMS. Over the years, my favorite professional basketball player was Michael Jordan. If you look at his history, one of the biggest things people would say is that he would look for the flaws in his game and would practice until they went away…then he would look for the next. In EMS education, we should be doing the same thing. Coaching the didactics of the free throw, coaching the kinematics of the free throw, then allowing the player to practice the free throw. Are your players the next Michael Jordan of the EMS Community? Show Links: Twitter.com/dsblev Facebook.com/dsblev Combomedic.blogspot.com

As EMS Educators, most of us show up to the classroom in the morning and await the arrival of EMT and Paramedic students for that day’s lesson. When they complete the curriculum, those students take their licensure examination, find an employer, and start responding. These individuals have received education in a wide array of conditions; however, most cannot time-travel which can be helpful in the event a patient suffers from sudden cardiac arrest.
