Hey cool listeners! We are back with another interview, and this time I am joined by Niba from Notes By Niba. She is building a brand (YouTube & Instagram) that centers around creating & sharing notes related to plant science in cosmetics and skincare.    We talk about her background, and what led her down the road of Science Communications. What exactly is Science Communications? Niba answers that with the basic understanding that it is at its core good storytelling. This leads her into discussing her start with Instagram and YouTube video, which transitions to an insightful message about creating things that give you energy and not follow what other people are doing just because it seems like the thing to do.    We get into what led her to Plant Biology, why she loves it and did she always have this love towards plants or did it grow with time. Niba dropped plenty of plant knowledge on me that blew my mind. You'll have to listen to the episode to find out what that was.    I enjoyed this conversation, and there is so much more that we get into The important role of mentors, new perspectives in science, genetic engineering just to name a few. Hey to all you cool listeners! In this episode, I bring to you Rebecca Fitch, aka Bexy, a YouTuber who is using her channel to educate viewers about the world of Physics. Her whole goal is to take Physics and STEM learning topics that some would find daunting and explain them in a way that is easy to digest and understand.   This hour-long conversation started with getting to know Bexy and understanding how she ended up majoring in physics. She has an incredible story explaining how she switched from a business track to physics. She put in a lot of hard work to make that switch even work, and I think most people would have given up if put in that position.  This transitions into more learning/teaching topics: the teaching environment nowadays, the daunting nature of majoring in STEM, learning about the schooling system across the pond, etc.  We then discuss what Bexy does in the industry. She is a System Engineer Consultant, and she explains what is system engineering, and what does it entail for someone with a Physics degree. Additionally, because I can't help it, I asked about what type of projects she has consulted on, and what were her favorites. That lead to us discussing her over year-long work on a Nuclear Fusion Reactor! Wow! This episode I sit down with one of the engineers behind the development of Osprey a "A mmWave Approach to Tire Wear Sensing", Akarsh Prabhakara. He is a Ph.D. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests broadly lie in wireless systems.  What is Osprey? Here is a brief description from Akarsh's website (linked below), "Tire wear affects safety and performance of automobiles. Past solutions are either inaccurate, requires sensors embedded in tires or are prone to road debris. Osprey proposes a sensor system design based on automotive mmWave radars and designs algorithms to measure tire wear while overcoming challenges related to road debris. In addition, the principles used also open up solutions for detecting and localizing harmful metallic foreign objects in the tire." What can you expect from the Interview? Sit back and learn from Akarsh. He is filled with knowledge about mmWave sensing and I felt like I was taking a master class in it. He will provide you with the design & practical reasons why he & his team went with mmWave Sensing. Additionally, what is next in the mmWave sensing field. Finally, we touch on a more personal note, as to what he likes to do in his free time when he is not researching and developing.
