 Wish You Weren't Here | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:13:05

“Who do you wish you’d never met?” The above is very direct question, set by listener Brian in Longnor, Staffordshire, England, which provoked an interesting discussion between co-hosts Stuart and William. They discuss how everyone you meet has some impact on your life in some way, they explore regret and how anybody can distance themselves from it. How if you know how it feels when something is working well, that that can be used a a good barometer for relationships. Regrets only brings negativity into your life, and through experience they both come to the conclusion to not take things too personally, be able to let go, and just move on. Are bad relationships always a bad influence on our lives? This podcast's overall themes are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice.  Get To The Chopper! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:09:47

“Do you ever imagine you’ll be a daily podcast?” In a very short episode of this podcast, Stuart and William discuss the above question, which was sent in by Alison in Driffield, Gloucestershire, England. During this conversation they go into depth about the podcast, and how they currently see its future, in particular how we'd need more of a structure around us to expand it beyond twice a week, they also touch on how, if it were more than twice a week, it possibly wouldn't allow you as a listener time to absorb the discussions they have, and much more besides. This is an episode that is very much about this very podcast, so if you're interested to hear more about it, and its origins, this is the episode for you. The title? Well you'll just need to listen to this episode to find out. During this episode its mentioned that Stuart and William are leading a guided walk. If you have enjoyed the podcast, you have to a chance to meet the co-hosts in person! They are leading an Alphabet Walk around Sandford Brake in Oxford.  Dying To Help The Planet | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:15:50

"Stuart, you say you dye your hair to prompt conversations about the climate crisis. Does the fact you are causing pollution doing that make you a hypocrite?” Stuart and William undertake quite a philosophical meandering chat around the above question, from Robin in Furness Vale, Derbyshire, England (Sorry Robin, William called you Rob near the start of this episode). As always, they expand and talk about the big issues, and during this episode they touch upon how we do a lot of non-essential things in our lives. How some people will only listen to an alternative point of view about sustainability if the person presenting the argument is living a completely clean life. The counter argument being that if these people aren't completely clean, we don't need to do anything until they are, as they are hypocrites. They encourage you not to readily call others hypocrites, and that we're all capable of hypocrisy in daily life, as we are all locked into the same systems. They also ask you to think about what aspects of your life produce pollution, and how you can reduce that by doing what you are doing, slightly differently. It's not what we do it's how we do it. During this episode William mentions a video where Stuart first revealed that he'd dyed his hair, here is a link to that video: The World Isn't The Only Thing That's On Fire During this episode its also mentioned that Stuart and William are leading a guided walk.  What Hinders You? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:18:23

“What hinders you guys as people?” Co-hosts, Stuart and William, discuss the above question, from Ash in Icomb, Gloucestershire, England. During this instalment, of this well established podcast, they talk about what hinders and impedes them personally, how we can easily curb ourselves by our own stubbornness, the hinderance of your childhood, and ask the question, do we too willingly blame someone else for being culpable for the events in life that hinder us as individuals? These conversations often meander, that's just the nature of good, healthy conversation. They do however often end up coming back to this podcast's overall themes which are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice. What do you make of this discussion? Which of those 6 topics are featured? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?  What's The Future Of This Podcast? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:08:15

“It's been asked before, and you’ve spoken around this I know, but can I ask again, what's the future of this podcast?” In this very short episode, Stuart and William reflect on how they see the future of this podcast. They talk about the various new mini series, for example Beyond Stereotypes and Indigenous Voices that have been launched, how they want another live show this year, and the fact that as of the date of release of this particular episode, they've 54 questions from you the listeners to get through, and discuss. This podcast's overall themes are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice. Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?  Be Inspirational | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:24:48

“Are truly inspirational people, who tangibly effect change and progress in others, those that talk, grab headlines and chase buzz words and phrases? Or are they those who show the way, and broaden inclusivity and opportunities etc by showing what and how it can be done by their actions, and through their own lived lives? To me inspirational words resonate far far far less than inspirational actions do, and can often have a longer shelf life and be more relatable. Also, do you think inspirational people distract themselves from growing as people, by getting too bogged down in rhetoric (internal as well as external, public as well as private), and not focusing enough on their actions, and not living the life they want for themselves, and others? Most of us learn better by watching, instead of listening, well that's what it seems to me, so should that be factored in more to help mitigate the societal challenges we're facing?” Stuart and William embark on an in-depth conversation which was prompted by the above question, sent in by listener Jason in Dove Holes, Derbyshire, England. They discuss how you can be the person you want to be by living your life, and showing through your actions who you are. We're often in the mindset that we have to announce everything publicly, but often it's not what someone says, it's what they do that matters more. Buzzwords and phrases move on, and lose their impact over time, so you inspire people longer term by doing what you do and talking less. They conclude by asking the question, how can we be more inspirational as individuals? What do you make of this discussion? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?  Is Apathy A Bad Thing? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:13:35

“What positives can be drawn from apathetic individuals, and what roles do morals and ethics play in leadership, that may inspire them in the various aspects of life?” Stuart and William, co-hosts of this podcast, once again delve into a question sent in by a listener of the show, which this time comes from Ken in Leek, Staffordshire, England. They discuss whether apathy really is a dreadful thing, how apathy could lead to a more stabilised life, and is there a willingness in politics to even engage with apathetic? This podcast's overall themes are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice. What do you make of this discussion?  A Miraculous Life | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:18:17

“Is life really that interesting, magical, miraculous and something to be savoured/respected. Which is something we often try to tell ourselves and others. Or is it all a smoke screen to help us deal with the randomness, futility and meaninglessness of life? Have either of you got, or had a fear of death?” This is the podcast where we have the conversations that need having, without scripts, and from a place of authenticity. This episode is no exception, as it sees Stuart and William once again embarking on a discussion which was prompted by the above question, sent by listener Russ in Harcourt Hill, Oxford, England. They discuss how life can be interesting, magical, miraculous and something to be savoured/respected, but they explore the harsh truth that sometimes life isn't  always like this, and we should allow people to experience their lives as they see it.  The Environmental And Climate North South Divide | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:16:42

"Do you think there's a north south divide in the UK within environmental activism?” This is a podcast of real opinions, real discussions, authentic views, but no scripts. During this episode co-hosts Stuart and William embark on a discussion which was sparked by the above question, that was sent in by listener Bob in Stone, Staffordshire, England. They discuss whether there truly is a north/south divide within environmental/climate activism, how most campaigns are generally localised in some way, and where exactly is this alleged north/south divide these days anyway? Are you an activist, have you found a north/south divide exists? We'd like to hear from you. Are there connections between the different groups of activists across the country? Again we'd like to hear from you, and about your experiences. What do you make of this discussion? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?  Travel Aids Knowledge? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:25:47

“I’m back, with another question guys. Have been wondering where Pedro is, and when he’s going to set another of his listener questions? Wonder if he laughs as much as I do, when you poke fun at him on this podcast? All in good jest though, I realise that.  I’ve been in hospital for a few months, and see I’ve got a lot of listening to catch up with regarding your podcast. Well done on producing more than 300 episodes. So, what are your favourite countries you’ve visited, and can you ever justify polluting travel, in the pursuit of knowledge expansion that comes about because of travel?” Stuart and William embark on a discussion which was sparked by the above question sent in by listener Adwin in South Africa. They ask the important question, why do we travel? Is it for history? Is it to take in the local culture? Is it mindless travel, going to the same places, and not really learning anything, acting like braindead sheep? They question why would you go to a resort which is far removed from the local culture? We can justify everything, whether it's right is another matter, and they cover that uncomfortable truth too. What do you make of this discussion?  Should I Vote? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:17:12

“Stuart, you say you never vote politically, is this wise?” Even though the question above which has been sent in by listener Iris in Wetley Rocks, Staffordshire, England, is very much aimed towards Stuart, it opens out into a wider conversation about voting, and politics in general. The discussion rather than debate, covers political apathy, the wisdom of voting or not voting politically, how politicians think too much about their own careers, and is it feasible that voting is maybe the illusion of power? Both Stuart and William talk very much from their own experiences, talking about being beyond apathetic when it comes to voting, and how the alternative isn't really an alternative, potentially.  Engineering Achievements | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:16:27

“I’ve only ever asked one question on this podcast before, and that was back in early 2021, I think? Back then I set a question about fake news, but this time I have something different for you. People say engineers hold a lot of answers to the climate issues we face, I like to ask though, what are your favourite engineering achievements in human history and why?” Stuart and William attempt to answer the above question, from listener Ben from Islip, Oxfordshire, and end up branching out into a much wider and broader conversation. Not really a debate, more an off the cuff and genuine exploration. They both share what their favourite engineering achievements are, and why. William goes for something out of this world, why Stuart opts for something much, much closer to home. Any guesses what that might be before you listen? No prizes for the correct answer, it's just an insight into how well you know you hosts. During this episode William mentions the book by Brian W. Aldiss 'The Dark Light Years' which he thinks is well worth checking out. How would you answer this question from listener Ben? What's your favourite engineering achievements in human history and why? What do you make of this discussion? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?  Say No To Leftover Food | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:11:22

“What do you do with leftover food?” Stuart and William once again embark on an in-depth unplanned conversation, that came from listener Karlijn in Teignmouth, Devon, England. They discuss at length their thoughts around food waste, encouraging you to enjoy the food you make, but not to cook too much, or to not buy too much food. They talk about what to do with any leftover food and any surplus food that you have produced, including how you can give leftover food to a local food bank, or food larder, or give it someone you know.
