In this episode of our segment called the Farm Report, Connor Wong joins Massachusetts Pirates Team Insider Jake Ignaszewski to talk about what's helped him have so much success at the plate in Worcester, what he's currently working on, favorite hobbies outside of baseball and more! Connor Wong was a part of the trade package sent to the Red Sox in the Mookie Betts trade with the Dodgers and has been playing with the Worcester Red Sox this season. Wong has seen time in the majors last season and this season but has mainly made an impact in AAA so far. His production at the plate has massively improved from last season to this season which has mixed well with his stellar defense. Wong's current future with the Red Sox is unknown at the moment but he could be a replacement candidate for Christian Vazquez or Kevin Plawecki in 2023. After injuries keep piling on for the Red Sox, they still found a way to split the series with their rival the Yankees this weekend. Red Sox ace Chris Sale is very close to coming back to the team after sustaining a stress fracture injury during Spring Training. Sale made his fourth rehab appearance of this stint on Wednesday but this time in Worcester and ended up pitching 3.2 innings and only allowing one run on three hits and striking out 5 batters. The Boston Red Sox may have avoided the sweep by the Chicago Cubs this weekend, but they lost Rich Hill and Xander Bogaerts in the process. On Monday night, the Red Sox snapped their 7-game winning streak after a 7-2 loss to their division rival, the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of a 3-game series. Since the game was in Toronto, Jarren Duran and Tanner Houck couldn't travel due to their vaccination status so Red Sox prospect Connor Seabold had to be called up, which didn't go how the Red Sox planned. Seabold ended up allowing three home runs off the stacked Blue Jays lineup which led to seven total runs over 4.2 innings.
