I'm Talking Politics Today With A Little Bit Of News | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3257

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com Man yesterday was a busy one for me and for so many others, because there were election runoffs. There were some major upsets here in Gwinnett County. Now I understand why candidates say they hate runoffs. Nicole Love Hendrickson is running for the Gwinnett County Chairwoman position. If she wins she will be the first Black person to ever hold that position. Keybo Taylor Defeated Curtis Clemons for the Sheriff seat. Jasper Watkins will be running against Ben Archer for Gwinnett Commissioner for District 3. Nikki Merritt will be running against Sen. PK Martin for the Senate District9 seat. Deborah Fluker defeated Judge Kathryn Schrader for the Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge seat. Last but not least Tiffany Porter will run against Richard Steel in November for the Tax Commissioner seat. Other big news was that presidential candidate Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate. Many people were so happy, and some were brought to tears. Some on the other hand felt like that was a bad decision. I will be following the election very close to bring you updates.#GwinnettCountyLive Daily News, #Podcast, #Local News

He understands the challenges of the organizer that needs to move an audience, having himself facilitated over 2,000 events that have brought together business owners, toward economic growth, under the umbrella of Tampa Bay Business Owners, which he founded in 2008. That success regionally was the springboard to launching a national event, Podfest Multimedia Expo, which he grew to over 975 attendees in just five years, with an expectation of 1,500-plus in year six, thanks to his ability to communicate key messaging to that community.Channeling that energy into creating a documentary, now he is making an impact globally. Under the CK Productions banner, as a filmmaker and producer, Chris successfully birthed The Messengers: A Podcast Documentary, which obtained worldwide distribution and theatrical screenings. This after having hosted and produced two TV shows earlier in his career. Of note was one of those projects being archived in the Library of Congress. With a unique skill set programmed to stay out in front of rapid change, Chris Krimitsos – as a speaker, as a business leader, and as a source for growth – is empowering audiences toward better opportunities for succeeding in business in the 21st century.#DailyHoroscopes #PodFest

Gwinnett Teachers Say They Want The Option To Work From Home To Be An Option Again | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3764

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com “I understand that there’s no fully right answer, but to me, knowing that (on Wednesday), we’re expected to report back to the buildings, but be in our classrooms with the doors shut and on our computer for all trainings — that, to me, felt like there could be some flexibility in doing the same thing in the safety of my home,” elementary school teacher Ashley Newman said.More than a dozen teachers emailed the Daily Post on Sunday and Monday about their concerns about their ability to work from home disappearing. Newman, who has been organizing her fellow teachers to contact district officials about those concerns, said about 76 teachers have copied her on emails to district officials where the text of an online petition she started is included. At the center of the debate is one line from the district’s July 20 announcement that the district would switch to 100% digital learning. That announcement also included details about the district’s plans for beginning the school year.SOURCE: www.GwinnettDailyPost.com

But, on a more serious note, I am a bit of an expert on the other kind of bad bounces as well—the kind that can shake your foundation, shatter your world and fling you to the ground.#Podcast #DailyPodcast, #DailyHoroscopes

Looks Like Transit Will Be On The Ballots In November | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2843

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com Gwinnett County commissioners voted 4-1 to ask voters to once again decide whether a 30-year 1% sales tax should be implemented to fund transit expansion in the county. The transit expansion vote will take place Nov. 3, less than two years after voters rejected a referendum on Gwinnett joining MARTA. Gwinnett will break some ground with the new vote on expanding its existing transit system, with a major growth of its bus system and the inclusion of heavy rail, according to Gwinnett Commission Chairwoman Charlotte Nash. This referendum will be different from the one held last year in that it is mostly asking voters to approve funding to expand Gwinnett County Transit, which is the existing county-run transit. By contrast, last year’s vote was not on expanding transit, but joining MARTA’s system to do so and getting rid of Gwinnett County Transit in the process. The new referendum will, however, include a heavy rail extension that will bring MARTA’s heavy rail line from its Doraville station to the Jimmy Carter Boulevard extension. Under the state law that created the Atlanta Transit Link Authority, also known as The ATL, MARTA is the only agency allowed to operate heavy rail in metro Atlanta.#DailyPodcast, #DailyHorosocopes

Gwinnett County Public Schools Will Open With Only Digital Learning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2968

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com On July 20, 2020, CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks announced that Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will open the 2020-21 school year on August 12 with all students receiving digital instruction. Although the district had planned to begin with both in-person and digital instruction, the current COVID-19 situation required a change in those plans.“There is no replacement for face-to-face instruction, and that was our preferred model for next year,” said Superintendent Wilbanks. “With that in mind, we offered parents an option between in-person and digital instruction in order to be responsive to their wishes for their children. However, out of an abundance of concern for our students, families, and employees, we made a very difficult decision based on the increasing number of COVID-19 cases we are seeing in our county, as well as the concerns that have been expressed by our teachers, parents, and others in the community.”SOURCE: www.AJC.com

Lawrenceville Says You Must Follow The Proper Protocol If You Want To Assembly To Protest | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3401

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com The city had allowed those protests to take place without making organizers go through the processes established by Lawrenceville's parades and assemblies ordinance. That ended this week."As we begin to move forward, learn and grow as a community, we must do so in an organized manner," city officials announced Tuesday afternoon. "During the past few weeks, the City of Lawrenceville has worked to accommodate those wanting to express their emotions through impromptu marches and gatherings in the City."In order to protect the safety of participants, visitors and citizens, it is time for us to return to our normal operations regarding public gatherings.
