Interview with Wanda Silva, Vice President, Mair Strategies previously worked for the state of New Jersey, served as Press Secretary at the Bronx Borough President’s Office under Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and was a  journalist with Univision and Telemundo.  Silva will be joining BTR News as a guest speaker to shed light on the issue of redlining and other banking industry practices that she says has left "Blacks, Latinos and immigrants without the financial tools necessary to progress financially, systematic racism in the banking industry".  In the wake of the murder of George Floyd by convicted killer and former cop Derek Chauvin, which caused a new wave of mass protests against police brutality, many corporations including banks announced a slew of "woke" polices to play their part in the elimination of systemic racism. Are banks doing enough? Not according to Wanda Silva.

This storm - described as the most powerful to touch Louisiana since 1850, touched down 16 years to the day since Hurricane Katrina and the levee failure. With more than 1,000 black people perishing during the first week of the storm, the 2005 catastrophe remains one of the deadliest occurrences in U.S. history. The C.O.W.S. hosted numerous authors, filmmakers and Katrina survivors to better understand how White Supremacists, not the toxic flood waters or failed levees, were the biggest problem. As of August 30th, the entire city of New Orleans is without power. 911 calls are suspended in some areas of the state. The Taliban is accused of a terrorist attack on a Kabul airport, where at least 60 Afghans (non-white people) and thirteen U.S. citizens perished. These events were drowned out in some quarters where attention was focused on the so called "milk crate challenge." Conspicuously, viral videos erupted where almost exclusively black people harmed themselves while scaling a pyramid of milk crates. In a single year, we've made epic accomplishments never seen before in US history. Successfully changing 3 state constitutions to remove slavery exception clauses. Organizing over 30 other states to do the same within the next 4 years and introducing a joint federal amendment to counter the slavery exception clause of the 13th amendment. For the 1st time since reconstruction, slavers have to defend slavery for everyone to see and hear. Which they have done in Tennessee and Louisiana. Where state senators publicly presented their defense for keeping slavery legal. ASNN core leadership members will be speaking during the massive national marches in DC, California, and Texas.
