On this week's epiosde of The Adventure Podcast, we delve deep into a topic we've touched upon in recent shows: Did George Mallory summit Everest nearly three decades before Hillary? Dave says yes! Kraig says no! It's going to be a throw down. First, we delve into the latest adventure news, including a massive new expedition to walk the Yangtze River in China. But first we start the show with sad news from the Volvo Ocean Race, an impressive new record for vertical skiing in a single day, and other adventure news. And of course, as always, we wrap things up with our gear picks of the week, including a new budget camera from GoPro, thoughts on Oru Kayaks, and how to get perfect espresso in the backcountry.
This week we chronicle the life and times of Sir Edmund Hillary, who did so much more than just climb Everest. Ths kicks off a regular new segment on the biggest badasses in adventure history. In the news we talk cycling, a bold venture to drive across the Behring Sea, and an update on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. And as always, we wrap things up with our latest gear picks!

But first we get an update on the Iditarod, check in with a pair of endurance runners attemping a speed record in Nepal, and we talk about a college that is offering a degree in outdoor gear.
