Are You Feeling Dissed in the Courage Department | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In this episdoe of Life Hurts God Heals, Pastor Chris deals with discouragement.  There is plenty of it to go around today.  The world is pretty messy and getting more messed up by the day.  What is the strategy to develop courage in a discouraging environment?  There are forces at play in our nation and in our world which are constantly interfering with the "normal" we are trying to create.  Is there hope?  Yes.  But often we put our hope/faith in the wrong things only to find ourselves 'discouraged' once again.  Too many discouragements and we end up depressed and depression is never healthy.  Let's consider the answers of the world and compare it to the answers we have in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Some People are so Heavenly Minded… Is That a Bad Thing? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. once stated that, “Some people are so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good.”  For others of us, we have too many clouds in our head. What’s the difference and what’s the difficulty of each aspect of where our brain is.  On this episode of Life Hurts God Heals, pastor Chris will use the Biblical scriptures to address these “cloud” issues:  the benefits and problems of being more heavenly minded, and the benefits and problems with taking too much time away in withdrawing from life.  One side can bring healing and hope and the other can create a lot of hurt and separation.  Join Chris as he contemplates the kinds of healing we may need as we deal with hurt.

Hurtful Memories — Open? Save? Share? Delete? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

It is inevitable that we will face a life-changing event which will wound us badly. Such wounds are often embedded into our memory hard drive and show up like an unwanted window on our computer screen or phone. What do we do with these memories that we no longer want? If we open it, we know what we’re in for—a whole lot of unusable video to ruin our day. We’ve played that video a thousand times already. Should I keep saving these memories? Would they have less of an impact if I shared them with someone? Who do I share them with? If there is a way to delete them, how do I do that? If I can’t, can I move them somewhere so they no longer interrupt my day? These are the things pastor Chris will be reflecting on. Take a listen on this episode of Life Hurts God Heals.

“It Was Like God Answered Prayer!” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Can you believe someone said that?  What is that supposed to mean?  How would  your relationship with God change if you knew that God not only heard your prayers, but answered every single request in your favor?  What if you knew that God actually wanted to be by your side all day long, as a friend, and conversing with you throughout the day?  How would that change day, your confidence, your anxiety, or some problems that never seem to go away?  Join Pastor Chris on Life Hurts God Heals as he contemplates the extraordinary wonder of talking with God throughout the day and the joyful experience when we realize that God really wants to answer prayer and can’t wait to broaden your understanding about who He is as you talk with Him throughout your day.

Protesting Pain with Purpose | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In today’s broadcast of Life Hurts God Heals, pastor Chris contemplates the reality of protest in the life of a follower of Christ.  There are a variety of examples of protest in the scripture because something was wrong; and the wrong was going to bring pain, destruction or death.  There are times that our lives as ambassadors of Christ must express and exhibit a protest against the darkness and destructive patterns in the world.  The purpose of such protests is to bring healing, but often a protest against the dark becomes an agent for the darkness.  What gives way to this and how can we discern the difference.  We will look and think upon these things in light of the chaos of our world so that our lives might reflect the life of Christ and honor Him.

Join Pastor Chris on Life Hurts, God Heals as he interviews Aaron and Melissa, a young couple in their mid-twenties to learn how they came to faith, the difficulties of holding on to their faith, and the things they do to keep their relationship with God vibrant and strong.  During the interview we discover the cry of the Millennial Generation to find their personal identity and purpose.  If these questions go unanswered, there will be great hurt ahead.  However if we can land firm on our personal identity which God uniquely designed for each of us and live it out under God’s counsel, there is true depth of joy which we can enjoy because we know God finds pleasure in us.

Are You “Sort of” Growing in Your Relationship with God? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In today’s show on Life Hurts God Heals, pastor Chris will contemplate certain realities of spiritual growth; namely, that as we seek to know God in a personal and present way, God is more inclined to reveal Himself to us, speak with us in our hearts, and answer our prayers with greater frequency.  But there is a problem.  It’s called the “sort of” problem.  It is incredibly easy to develop a non-committal kind of relationship with God which allows us to entertain the cravings of the world while at the same time thinking that God is happy with us in our spiritual development.  We develop a huge gray area about what is right and wrong, what God wants and doesn’t want, and a willingness to be okay with the undefined boundaries we create.  We might be surprise at how black and white God really is about how we should live.  Take a listen and let’s begin clearing the cobwebs that keep us from a refreshing journey of intimate conversations with God.

“LET” is Not a Passive Word in Our Healing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

“Let” is not a passive word.  When we “let” something happen to us, or when someone tells us, “How could you ‘let’ that happen?” we often think of a passive stance toward life or circumstance.  But don’t be fooled.  Most if not all of our “passive” words are anything but…  Apathy is not passive.  A lack of effort or a lack of kindness; neither of these is passive.  Something quite deliberate is taking place in these decisions, even if they may seem at times only “reactive” to a life event or situation.  If we desire to find healing over past hurts we should take the time to reflect on what role our “letting something happen” played into our hurt and how it can play into our healing.  Join pastor Chris on this episode of Life Hurts God Heals as he reflects on the biblical scriptures to find help and healing for some difficult life situations that keep us stuck.
