Saturday, June 2nd: Dennis Tzeng and Perri Nemiroff answer your mailbag questions. SATURDAY MAILBAG: Who Should Play The Penguin in The Batman? What aspect of the filmmaking process do you think is often under-appreciated? Who would you cast as The Riddler in the DCEU and do you think he should be one of the next big bad guys? Also, what would you think if Andy Serkis was cast for the Penguin? What is the most quotable movie from the twenty tens and what quote from that movie do you and your friends say to each other the most? The Lost World is an underrated sequel. Which other movie sequels do you think do not get the credit that they deserve? The film is directed by ‘Taken’ helmer Pierre Morel. -Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, announced that the recently acquired Power Rangers brand is very much in their future plans in terms of movies, toys, games and consumer products. -New Trailer for Kevin Hart / Tiffany Haddish Comedy 'Night School' -Live Twitter Questions That Hashtag Show released some character descriptions for the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff movie from the Fast and the Furious franchise. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham and is directed by John Wick’s David Leitch. The film is set to follow the odd couple of Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Statham’s Deckard Shaw as they are once again forced to team up to tackle a new villain. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has begun filming his new movie, Jojo Rabbit. The New Zealand-born actor and filmmaker is coming off a franchise saving third Thor film and instead of diving into another blockbuster, he has chosen a smaller and possibly controversial film as his follow up. STX Entertainment released the first poster and trailer yesterday for their movie ‘Peppermint’. The film stars Jennifer Garner and is directed by Taken helmer Pierre Morel. Garner plays Riley, a wife and mother whose life is turned upside down following an attack on her family. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner spoke about where he sees their newly acquired Power Rangers franchise fitting into their future plans. He stated that they were developing a “brand blueprint” and that they are looking to focus on motion pictures, toys, games, and consumer products and revitalize this “very under leveraged and undervalued” brand. Many fans have wondered if there would be another attempt at a Power Rangers movie as a reboot or a sequel to the 2017 film. He tweeted yesterday: “Take this with a grain of salt as things are constantly changing in the DCEU but I'm hearing the Penguin is possibly the choice to play the main villain in THE BATMAN. Sources add even if Reeves decide to go another route the studio could then make him the main villain in BOP (Birds of Prey). Deadline reports that Sylvester Stallone has launched his new production company named Balboa Productions, where he’ll develop film and TV projects - the first movie being a pic at MGM on Jack Johnson, the first African American heavyweight champion. THR reports that Paramount has picked up a sci-fi action comedy pitch from Mortal Media, the banner of the NBA's Blake Griffin and the NFL's Ryan Kalil. The untitled feature comes from duo Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley, who wrote MGM's proposed Shanghai Noon sequel, Shanghai Dawn. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is shaping up to be the first original feature being developed by the shingle. No release date has been set. Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has picked up the film rights to the classic Jakks Pacific toy, Creepy Crawlers. The toy is a sort of EZ Bake Oven used to make insect molds to churn out lots and lots of plasticized bugs used to creep out your younger siblings. Other plot details remain under wraps, with a release date yet to be determined. New image released for Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck It Ralph 2, uniting the Disney princesses and teasing the scene showed at D23 last year.  Star Wars: How Many Movies Are Too Many? - Movie Talk | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:49:30

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Wednesday, May 30th, 2018) Mark Ellis, Mark Reilly and Jon Schnepp discuss the following: -Disney Unlikely to Release ‘Star Wars’ Movies So Close Together Again After ‘Solo’ Disappointment -Jamie Foxx Set For ‘Spawn,’ Creator Todd McFarlane’s Dark Blumhouse Adaptation -Zack Snyder Says ‘The Fountainhead’ Will Be His Next Project -New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Ad Unleashes the Superhero Team and the Villainous Ghost -Filming Begins on ‘Maleficent II’ as Cast and Synopsis Revealed -Live Twitter Questions THR is citing their sources saying that while the Disney isn’t abandoning its plan of releasing a new Star Wars movie every year anytime soon, insiders tell the outlet that Disney and Lucasfilm aren’t likely to release two Star Wars movies so close together again, regardless of whether they’re sequels or anthology films. Deadline reports that Jamie Foxx is set to star in Spawn, the reboot of the popular comic character that will be produced by Blumhouse; marking the directorial debut of Todd McFarlane. Foxx will play Al Simmons, a member of a CIA black ops team who is betrayed after being set up by his cohorts to be murdered. After being sent to hell, he is then convinced to become a Hellspawn warrior by a demon in exchange for being able to be reunited with his wife. But Spawn finds himself stuck in a demonic creature shell, and that his wife moved on and married his best friend. It appears as though filmmaker Zack Snyder has chosen his next film, and he’s switching to a smaller scale. A few years ago Snyder revealed that he really wanted to adapt Ayn Rand’s novel The Fountainhead into a feature film, and while answering a fan on Vero the other day (via Deadline), Snyder confirmed this will be his next movie. A new TV spot has been released for the upcoming MCU installment Ant-Man and the Wasp. The events of Peyton Reed‘s sequel will actually take place before the events of Infinity War and sees Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly returning to their roles. It opens in theaters on July 6th. Disney announced yesterday that principle photography has begun on Maleficent 2; officially entitled Maleficent II. The follow-up finds Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales co-director Joachim Rønning stepping into the director’s chair after Robert Stromberg helmed the 2014 film.  Infinity War Spoilers: Screenwriters Go In-Depth on Making of Film | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:44:45

Warning: Avengers: Infinity War spoilers are discussed! If you watched the Russo Brothers Avengers: Infinity War and had questions, I’m about to make your day. That’s because I recently sat down with Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for an exclusive interview about the making of the film and during the in-depth, forty-five-minute conversation we left no stone unturned. As you can hear them say in the player above, they talked about where Sharon Carter was during the events of the film, if Hawkeye was ever part of Infinity War, if Thor’s new hammer Stormbreaker is more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet, the Captain Marvel post-credits scene, if they know how old Thanos is, deleted scenes, why it took longer for certain characters to be dusted then others, if Thanos was only able to beat Hulk because he had the Power Stone, whose idea it was to bring Red Skull back, where Hulk was just before film starts while Thanos and his children were attacking the Asgardian ship, and so much more. Trust me, I asked everything I could think of and learned a lot about the making of the film. Finally, a huge thank you to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for not only writing a fantastic movie, but for coming into the Collider studio to talk spoilers with us.
