Encore! Marji talks to a FarmHer who saw an issue in the cattle education in her state and set out to fix it. April Shaeffer used her experience and career at North Carolina State University to make a change in the agriculture industry. Through April’s Cattle Handling Workshops for women, now in their fourth year, this farmher is helping others find their passion and purpose on the farm. Hear what spurred this FarmHer to cause change.

This week on Shining Bright, we are having a party! FarmHer is five years old so we’re going to have a little fun, talking about not just dreaming, but dreaming BIG and stepping back through Five Business and Life Lessons learned over the last five years!

From roots in cattle and a passion for raising livestock in a way that mattered to them, they have created a successful and quickly growing business.  It hasn’t only brought growth to their family and farm, but also to the small town of Bluffton, GA.

This week on Shining Bright, I’ll be talking about the well being and mental health of farmers. Just in time for Mental Health Awareness Week, we’ll talk with Linda Emmanuel of AgriSafe and we’ll dig into some of the issues farmers are facing and look at some ways we can change the discussion.

We’ll be joined by Nashville powerhouse, Maggie Rose who recently released a video that is ringing true to America’s women in agriculture. Then we’ll talk to country musician Joni Harms who has spent her career ranching and signing the tunes of a cowgirl. 

This week on Shining Bright, I’ll be talking about the saftey of farmers. In what is a busy time of year for many farmers, and in conjunction with Farm Safety Week, we’ll talk with a few folks from the Progressive Agriculture Foundation about their focus on farm safety and some tips we can all take to the farm.

This week on Shining Bright, I’ll be talking to a woman helping bring new technologies to life in agriculture. We’ll talk with Megan Vollstedt, the director of Iowa’s own AgriTech Accelerator, and we’ll dig into where the women are or aren’t in agriculture technology.

This week on Shining Bright, I’ll be talking to an urban FarmHer. We’ll meet Jenny Quiner, a non-traditional FarmHer, who is setting her roots at the Dogpatch Urban Farm . We’ll learn how she started a farm from scratch and is making it go, on Shining Bright.

This week on Shining Bright, we'll be taking it LIVE from the Farm Progress Show. Join us in the Nationwide Insurance booth as we talk about the very important subject of Grain Bin Saftey and for other highlights of the women involved in many of the organizations at the show.
