J.C. Hall might not be on the trigger most of the time, but he's hunting all the time.  When he does hunt for himself, it's a quality over quantity kind of thing.  These days J.C. is frequently on tour with the likes of country singer Aaron Lewis where he's running the camera or editing for the show On the Road Outdoors. JC is an interesting guy with a colorful past - he studied golf at Penn State, was a pit crew member on the NASCAR circuit, and is now a producer for Open Season TV.

So you want to book a whitetail hunt with an outfitter, but you don't know exactly where to start.  Maybe this is your first time or maybe you're rebounding from a horrible experience and you're attempting not to repeat.    What questions should you ask?  What are the red flags? What's should you expect to get when you spend your hard earn money ? We explore all this an more with Jason Selman of Hero Shot Outfitters.

According to Greg Godfrey from the tree harness company Tethrd, we need to give credit to each. It's a deer hunter meets arborist meets rock climber kind of story. We discuss with Greg the products that Tethrd offers, how to use them effectively, and how their system can safely make you a lighter more mobile deer hunter.

It's hard to imagine that a bicycle would have anything to do with deer hunting.  For years we've relied on our vehicles- our trucks and our ATVs and our UTVs to get us deeper into the woods to our hunting spots.  But a bicycle? Well, turns out, with a little ingenuity from some outdoor enthusiasts and a re-design of the legendary mountain bike - fatter tires, better suspension, a motor, and a hardcore battery like what you'd find in the futuristic Tesla automobile, the all terrain electric bike was born.

Long gone are the days of film game cameras.  The standard game camera  now is digital with an SD card.  But now the cellular game camera is making strides in both quality and price point. Will this be the new standard soon?    We thought we should explore the cellular game camera because everyone seems to want one but many don't know enough about them to jump in.  So we grabbed our good friend Kimber O'Dell from Covert Scouting Cameras to break it all down for us.

By now in your hunting career you've probably used a game camera or two.   Game camera pics can be deceiving, for multiple reasons.   Using a multiple camera system and gathering data points connected to weather  might be a better approach to determining when to hunt.  However, keeping track of data when using more than a couple cameras can be daunting and without keeping statistics correctly the degree of error goes up when determining the true pattern.  That's where Deer Lab comes into play. 

We continue our series on hunting tech this week with Tactacam, a company who build what is perhaps the best deer hunting action camera on the market.   Somehow, this small coming out of Minnesota has gotten top marks with hunters, probably because they thought through what the hunter needs most- a camera that can seemingly be just  be part of the equipment -  conveniently hidden near the end of a barrel or within the stabilizer of a bow, without duct tape, and can be activated with a push of the button
