Let's Talk Trains attends the 100th Anniversary of Kansas City's Union Station Celebration. Bob Alkire, KC Nathan and ShuttletrainTED all are on board this week, as we visit with KC Mayor Sly, Visit KC President, Union Station President, 100th Anniversary Gala leaders.

This week we travel to Corinth, Mississippi for a prerecorded episode. We learn about the city from the Mayor and Convention & Visitor Bureau Director. The Corinth Crossroads Museum Director stops by with to fill us in on what the museum has to offer visitors and railfans. SInce it was the Anniversary of the Battle of Corinth, the National Park Service's Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center was a must and we talk with a staff member about it's role in telling the story of the battle and why the railroads in the area made it was so important.
This week's show goes international as Bob and Elizabeth travel to the Surrey, British Columbia suburb of Cloverdale where the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society is headquartered and we are volunteers. The FVHRS owns and operates B.C. Electric Railway interurban car 1225 on a 4.5 mile stretch of former B.C. Electric trackage now operated by the Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRY). We will be talking with the board members and some volunteers about the restoration of 1225 and 1304, as well as current and future plans. Chris wil get Larry to tell us more from the old days of railroading including derailments, going dead on the law, the use of trainorders and other long lost parts of railroading gone by. The current state of the NRHS and the future convention in Rutland will be discussed.

This week we attend the 2014 Go By Train event at the National Transportation Museum located just west of St. Louis. We will visit with museum leaders to find what the event is all about. We will also talk with vendors, historical societies, visit with members of the Choo Choo Bob show.
Time has come for the annual battle with the United States Congress for funds to operate and maintain Amtrak. This week, we will look at some of the current ideas that have been floated by members of Congress. We will break down the authorization bill. Your comments are welcome. Chris will ask Larry about his early days at the Southern Pacific including some rides on some unique motive power no longer used today.
