This week's Let's Talk Trains focuses on Amtrak and it's plans to renovate several stations. We will be joined by an Amtrak official who will give us a firsthand report on what Amtrak has planned.. The Amazing Chris Guenzler will tell you about all of the NRHS Conventions that he has attended. From San Jose in 1982, Sacramento 1999, St Louis 2001,  Grand Canyon 2002, Baltimore 2003, Minneapolis 2004, Portland 2005, New Philadelphia 2006,  Chattanooga 2007,  Fort Worth 2008,  Duluth 2009,  Scanton 2010, and  Portland 2011 will be talked about. Learn where trips were run to and other things Chris did around the NRHS Conventions. Join us for this very educational show about all of these NRHS Conventions.

Bart Jennings called I then went into explantion of what is rare mileage. Chris tells about a trip he took on the the old Venta Spur in Orange County to the present. Amtrak rare mileage, steam trips, VIA rare mileage  and then Bart Jennings trips that he has taken.  You will really understand the concept of what rare mileage is all about.   ALL ABOARD!!!

This week the Amazing Chris Guenzler and AC Adam will give you a good show . Christmas Gremlins at the start of the show. We started off with the Official Caller Ken Ruben then ShuttletrainTED called in. Bart Jennings chimed in with the NRHS Alaska 2013 Convention information then we did a rundown of events for this unique convention.  AC Adam mentioned his favorite railroad was the old Santa Fe as it was also mine. ShuttletrainTED liked the old Frisco Railroad. Chris talked about his job and tied it in with trains talking about the old Pacific Electric Bridge across the Santa Ana River.  

This week's Let's Talk Trains starts off with a holiday theme. We will visit with two Botanical Gardens as they describe what it    takes to come up themes for their annual Holiday Train Floral exhibit. In the second hour, we will conintue our conversation about tresspassing and whether or not railroads are doing enough to prevent it. This falls on the heels of a St. Louis Post Dispatch series and the recent coverage of a photographer in Sacramento killed while taking photos on the tracks. This week, Kansas City Nathan host, as we talk to retired railroaders about their memories along the iron road; we welcome any retired railroaders, as well as any current railroaders to call in and tell us about some of your memories about the job---what you liked about it, what you didn't like, what do you miss most about the job, etc. We will also talk about the Let's Talk Trains Show in 2013, what we have planned, as well as posing a question to you, the listener---"what would you like to hear in 2013?" Is there a specific topic you would like to discuss, is there an event that you would like to know more about? Skip Waters will be your host today on Lets Talk Trains.  Following the usual LTT callers, we will hear from Dr. John Bertini of the Galveston Railroad Museum.  After four years recovering from Hurricane Ike, the museum is having its re-grand reopening.  One of the big events will be the arrival of the newly restored F units, painted in the livery of the Santa Fe Warbonnet, probably the most recognizable paint scheme in the history of railroading.  Then during out second hour, we will hear from Mr. Sam Teague, President of Railroad Artifact Preservation Society and the Santa Fe Fifty Hundred Team of the ATSF 5000 "Madame Queen".  Who's vision is to restore the 5000 to steam power with the goal of operating steam excursions from its historic home of Amarillo, Texas.  We have an All the Way Santa Fe show today on Lets Talk Trains... won't you join us!
