ADU 0071: In light of Nepal, how can I use my drone for search & rescue efforts? Is there a volunteer group out there? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 657

Today we're going to, once again, step away from the norm and not answer anybody's specific question. Instead, we're going to talk about how drones can be used for good, especially in light of the events taking place in Nepal right now. We have some good friends (and partners) in IR Distro who are on their way to Nepal right now to use their drones and IR cameras to help in the search and rescue efforts. As a result, we felt it applicable and maybe even a bit necessary to step back and talk about how drones are and can be used for the greater good. We also give a quick run down of an organization called SWARM (http://sardrones.org/) where you can volunteer for search and rescue efforts with the help of your drone and flying skills. You can ask and submit your question at http://AskDroneU.com and we'll be sure to answer it on an upcoming episode. It couldn't be easier to do, so go check it out now. Lastly, can we ask you a huge favor? Give us a 5 star rating on whatever platform you listen to our show. It'll only take you 30 seconds, and will greatly help us. Thank you!

ADU 0069: If the FAA isn't issuing certifications (and who knows when that will happen), why should anybody bother learning how to make money with their drone right now? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1111

Today we're actually going to address a comment left on our Instagram account (@thedroneU) over the weekend from a picture we posted to our training in Denver (which was sooooooo awesome). Essentially, this gentleman was asking (among other things) why would anyone bother getting trained to fly a "drone" (which he calls an "RC toy") if the FAA isn't even licensing folks to fly them for money? Well, boy, do we have all kinds of thoughts about that. If you fall in this same camp then you should definitely listen to our show today because you may very well come out of it thinking completely different. If you're unsure whether you should learn to fly and make money with your drone right now, this would also be a great episode for you. Regardless of your stance, check it out and let us know what you think. Do us a favor, leave a 5 star review of our show if you find it helpful and interesting. We'd really appreciate your support! If you have a question you'd like us to answer, simply go to http://askdroneu.com/ and we'll answer it live. It's really simple and will take no time at all.

ADU 0063: How do I notify the FAA I'm flying near an airport for a drone shoot? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 972

We see, hear and read a lot of misinformation out there about the FAA regulations, especially as it relates to getting paid to fly your drone. Since we get so many questions about how to start making money with a drone, and what the FAA says about it, we decided to highlight a recent job we did. In fact, it's one that we pursued on our own volition, and you can do the very same thing. It involved taking pictures of opening night at a semi-pro baseball stadium. There was obviously people present, and even an international airport only a few miles away. You would typically be told this is against the law and not possible. We're here to tell you that is not true at all, and we go through the steps we took to notify the FAA, get their unwavering "approval" (although we didn't need it) and make sure we didn't fly over people. So stay tuned for this important, informative episode. Did you know you can easily get your drone related questions answered in our show? Just go to http://AskDroneU.com and submit your question.
