Donald Trump is a controversial figure. Over the past year, we’ve watched him tweet from his hip, insult his colleagues, and call countries bad names. It’s clear that no previous president has come close to this type of behavior, and from our vantage point, we feel that’s legitimate enough reason to be alarmed. But is anything good coming from this?

Think of split testing as dating. By comparing performance, you can make choices on which path you’d like to go down. This is the reality of online marketing, that we are able to put users through funnels of testing and then analyze the metrics to optimize site performance.

What’s wrong with America? If you’ve been mildly awake in the past year, you’ve sensed the panic in the air. But the panic is the problem. People displace blame to governmental forces, so they can justify their own story. Certainly there are causes and social issues that are exempt from this analysis, but for the most part, we as a society underestimate our individual agency when we choose to believe that a government is stopping us from pursuing our goals.

Success is more than just a bank account. We constantly hear this but how often are we setting goals in other areas of life and measuring our progress? Physical health, personal projects, the number of domains besides financial status worth our success-oriented attention is vast. What’s important is figuring out what your own definition of success is, and weighting each column appropriately.

You will not succeed the first time around. And it might not happen on the second. Or the third. If it takes a few attempts before you strike gold, that’s okay. Failure is a necessary step on the road to success. You learn what a business needs when you’re met by unconquerable blockers. The trick is to keeping your head down and persevering through the storm.  

You can’t stop aging. And that’s a good thing. There are many important benefits that come from aging. Our brain develops, our muscles form, and our systems mature. But at some point during the aging process, it turns on us and our body begins to break down.

If you struggle with laziness, learn more about laziness. In the age of information, where the answer to any question is a tap on the smartphone away, we no longer have the excuse, “Well, I just didn’t understand.” Gone are the days where the blind lead the blind. If you struggle with procrastination, learn more about procrastination to pinpoint where and why you struggle with it. In doing this, you will be able to change your behavior and come out on top.  

Don’t talk in a scripted way. Humans can easily detect who is being a phony and who is not. This is something we must take into consideration when we’re in meetings, on sales calls, and presenting to clients. Above any piece of advice you’ve ever received, always remember that being yourself is the top priority.

All sales textbooks seem to say the same thing. Focus on the key benefits. Provide value. Don’t hesitate on the ask. The more we read these bulletpoints, the more we learn about ‘how to sell.’ But how do we integrate these tips into actually making deals?

As your business grows, more hands will enter the pot. People will want to work for you, clients will demand more from you, and investors will want to get in on the action. Knowing who to let in and who to let out is the key to ensuring that no cancerous cells enter your system. Because it only takes one to seriously set back the mission.

Do you build a website or use Facebook? To drive traffic to your website requires diverting people away from their comfort zones. But building a following within Facebook, the world’s most used social media platform, is tending to the user. And thus, its higher conversion rate can be turned into a more profitable revenue stream.

Today, it’s easy to be a ghost. Amazon will instantly ship whatever you need, Netflix will broadcast whatever you want to watch, and Facebook will provide the virtual social interaction you think suffices. Across the board, the mental and physical requirement to be aware and present is the lowest it’s ever been. The effect of this is that we have become disembodied ghosts floating through our day-to-day.

A marketing agency is easy to start. But it is difficult to scale. As you gather clients, problems arise. How do you hire the right people? How do you create systems so you can train your new-hires to do the job the same way you were doing? Answering these questions while simultaneously running the business can send us running into the woods.

As soon as elected officials meet in a boardroom or votes are tallied behind closed doors, whatever that system’s goal was, is now compromised. This is the reality of centralization, and if you look across our society, you see it in every sector.

In digital marketing, there are many different avenues to choose from. Email campaigns, social media, Google AdWords, the list goes on. How do you know which channel is the best for your product? And even if you do know which, how can you maximize the utility of the platform?
