It’s never too late to start building good credit. Thinking into the future, there will come a day when you need to take out a large sum of money. This could be the down payment on a house or the seed money to start your business. If you don’t have a good credit score, it will be near impossible to do this without enormous interest rates. So, the time is now to start building the necessary credit foundation for when that day comes.
We can’t deny how much status means. As we stand in line waiting to buy the newest iPhone, it’s clear we’re doing it for the status symbol. Our current one works just fine, but the newest model from the most futuristic company on the planet is the microphone we need to tell the world: “I am of high status."
Competitiveness is often frowned upon. Our friends and family want to see us succeed but don’t understand the level of grit required to get there. As a result, we subdue our inner beast to fit in with others. Reversing that tendency is easier than expected when you listen to the greats talk about their relationship with their competitive spirits.
We all know we need to exercise. But it’s hard to know how we should exercise. Running, lifting weights, yoga, swimming, every type of exercise has its followers who tell you it’s the best exercise. With this much noise coming in, it can get difficult to determine who to listen to.
We all sit at different positions on the political spectrum. But regardless of where you stand, we can agree that harnessing the power inside ourselves is a more reliable method of self-help than government programs. Whether or not the government program can be better is a conversation about legislation. Today, we talk about the power in each of us to go about a day-to-day trying to do what’s right.
You can’t make money without understanding people. From negotiating deals to managing employees, every touchpoint of operating a business involves working alongside others. Without a basic understanding of human psychology, you will get taken advantage of by others, and as a result be unable to grow the business to its potential.
The goal is robotic income. This is the type of revenue stream that doesn’t require active work. Essentially, you’re making money while doing other things. To do this requires building a business that’s big enough to run by itself or selling product online. For us beginning entrepreneurs, we will start with the latter and use the powers of Shopify and Google Trends to supply niche products at their highest points of demand.
An online presence doesn’t just mean an opportunity to market your business. It means create an online revenue stream. Even the brick-and-mortar restaurant can bottle their specialty mustard and sell online. As our society shifts more and more to a global digital economy, we must find ways to make money online.
There’s no worse place than rock bottom. By definition, it’s the lowest point in your life. You lie on the floor of your office completely hopeless. But also by definition, rock bottom means that it will never get worse. There’s only one way to go from rock bottom, and that is up.
Why haven’t you started your own business? If your answer is time, then you’re not managing your time well enough. If your answer is money, then you’re not seeing the value in failure. The truth about entrepreneurship is there’s no reason not to give it a try.
The nature-nurture debate misses the point. Discussing how much of who we are is genetic makeup vs. environmentally influenced is an unproductive conversation. It’s a high amount in both; we are raised by our parents, the same DNA that makes us up. What we need to be talking about is how to shift the hardwiring that comes from this upbringing.
We all want to make more money. But wanting to isn’t good enough. You have to actually do it. Maybe it’s that your current full-time job provides a steady paycheck, affording you a lifestyle of comfort and flexibility. But what about that business idea that’s been chirping in the back of your head for the past few months? When will you start grinding on that and experience real freedom working for yourself?
Hearing others’ stories helps us reframe our own. When you recognize the fibers of another person’s narrative to be parallel to your own, you rack focus for a second. The typical hamster wheels of thought stop. And when you come back to your own narrative, you have a new, healthier, and more nuanced perspective on that part of the story.
It’s the weekend. Your friends want you to go out later tonight. Drinking with them means laughs, stories, and a good time; all essential parts of your formula to happiness. But you also have big plans to grind on your business tomorrow. What is the cost of recreational fun and how does it compare to achieving your entrepreneurial dreams?
Most parties are lame. But every now and then, you come across one that speaks to you. It’s hard to describe why; something about the energy in the room just feels good. You’re meeting people you want to meet and talking others who have interesting things to say. How do you replicate this?
