Danny Seraphine of Chicago and California Transit Authority | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:00

Pioneering jazz-rock drummer and composer Danny Seraphine is a founding member of Chicago. Worldwide the iconic group has sold over 122 million albums, and, just domestically, earned 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums. In 1990, after 23 years in the group, Seraphine and Chicago had a jarring parting of ways, and he left music behind for 15 years. But a call to play a benefit show for a fellow drummer pulled him out of seclusion and sparked a creative rebirth.   Today, Seraphine looks forward with Sacred Ground (Street Sense), the sophomore record from his jazz-rock powerhouse group CTA—often described as “Chicago on steroids”—and he makes peace with his past with the refreshingly candid memoir Street Player: My Chicago Story (Wiley).   Seraphine is critically acclaimed as an instrumentalist and a composer. Rolling Stone Magazine recently ranked him as one of the top 100 drummers of all time. When he was coming up on the music scene, legendary jazz drummer Buddy Rich called Seraphine his favorite young drummer. Recently he was awarded Cape Breton Drum Festival’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor he also received from the Montreal Drum Festival. He’s an endorsee of esteemed drum companies such as DW drums, Remo drumheads, Zildjian cymbals and drumsticks. He also has released a well-regarded instruction DVD titled The Art of Jazz Rock Drumming, distributed through Drum Channel. As a songwriter, Seraphine co-wrote the Chicago Top 40 hits “Lowdown” and “No Tell Lover,” as well as core Chicago tunes like “Little One,” “Take Me Back to Chicago,” “Show Me the Way,” “Birthday Boy,” and the irresistibly funky “Street Player,” later sampled by rapper Pitbull for the hit “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).”

Join Dawn & Peter with WL Laney | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:02:00

First let me set the stage so you will be able to understand the depth of the pit I climbed out of. In the late 1990’s my wife Coleen and I lived in the Phoenix metro area. My consulting business was doing well and the future looked bright. I was working on a “Roll-Up” in the staffing industry and had put together a management team with many years of accomplishments between them. I was having great success in combining a significant group of independent staffing companies to purchase for the “Roll-First let me set the stage so you will be able to understand the depth of the pit I climbed out of.    I took what I knew, how to sharpen professional hair styling scissors and built myself a ladder from there to climb out of my pit of despair and hopelessness. First was the invention of a better sharpening system, one that would not ruin the scissors. Second, I developed a proprietary brand of high end styling shears. Third, I developed a business plan for a recession proof business sharpening and selling shears to hair stylists. My program met the needs of the stylist by providing a sharpening service that was better than anything else on the market and a top quality shear they could purchase at a reasonable price. Later we added an interest free payment option to make it even better.   The point of this story isn't YEA ME! No, rather I want to show that in my case when my back was literally against the wall, what appeared to be the end of everything I knew was actually a gift from God. This gift enabled me to use what I knew to help many others recover from BTSD – Boomer Traumatic Stress Disorder, the hopelessness many boomers feel as they face today’s economic challenges. Don't become one of the over 50 unemployed people living the new American nightmare.

John speaks regularly on the exact direct-to-fan marketing model he has used to help thousands of artists and even help set the all time single day sales record at CD Baby.  Join Dawn & Peter w/ Esther Kiss | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

She enjoys working with people who are tired of trying every marketing method under the sun, consuming tons of infoproducts and yet they’re not making the money they know they could be making. Esther is also the publisher The Weekly Kiss, an online magazine (e-zine) for small business owners.   While living in Europe, for seven years, Esther has regularly participated in the business growth and strategy sessions of a family owned group of companies with international holdings ranging from hotels & restaurants to shipping and trading companies. Always committed to excellence and extreme diligence, in addition to graduating Magna cum Laude, Esther was the only one in her class to graduate with special honors from the University’s business department.   Going back to her roots (creating a solid foundation for growth in business), Esther combines it with working with entrepreneurs with big dreams.
