Looking into four misconceptions the West had with Islam when it first encountered with Islam. You can trace a lot of the "problems" today between "Islam and the West" to these four early misconceptions.
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan discusses how to be positive in our daily lives with examples from the Quran.
All of our personal and social problems are rooted in the states of our hearts. Just as the body has ailments that force us to the doctor, the heart also has ailments that should force us to the doctor. Traditionally, purification of the heart was a central focus of Muslim civilization. Manuals, texts, glosses, and commentaries fill our libraries with the strategies, techniques, and methods for purifying hearts. Many Muslims don’t have access to this rich tradition of spiritual healing that could, if rediscovered and used, heal our persons and societies from many of the destructive forces impacting us. This lecture will discuss some of the dominant ailments of the heart and the strategies the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and our tradition provide us with to address them.
Muslims have always lived as minorities in predominantly non-Muslim lands. And, in the best of times, they have lived well and peacefully with peoples of other faiths. This lecture will examine the European experience of Muslims after the collapse of the Ottoman sovereignty, how they fared, why they failed when they did, and the lessons they can teach us in our current situation.
What is going on with our ummah? Thousands are dying. Thousands are leaving Islam. What are we doing? What are you doing? Shaykh Tawfique calls upon us to wake up and be serious about our deen.
Musa, known as Moses in the Old Testament, is a prophet, messenger, lawgiver and leader in Islam. In Islamic tradition instead of introducing a new religion, Moses is regarded by Muslims as teaching and practicing the religion of his predecessors and confirming the scriptures and prophets before him. The Quran states that Moses was sent by Allah (one God) to the Pharaoh of Egypt and the Israelites for guidance and warning. Moses is mentioned more in the Quran than any other individual, and his life is narrated and recounted more than that of any other prophet. According to Islam, all Muslims must have faith in every prophet which includes Moses and his brother Aaron (Harun). Nouman Ali Khan introduces us to Prophet Moses in this brief talk.
Mufti Ismail ibn Musa Menk gives a lecture on living life in this world whilst focusing on Allah and the hereafter in Birmingham, UK.
