Speaker: Brian Fisher Scripture: Ezra 1-2 Series: Ezra, Haggai, Nehemiah, Malachi Series Order: 02 God is active in human history. He is moving people and nations toward His greatest desire, the worship of His glory. Through the decree of Cyrus, king of Persia, in 538 B.C., God made it possible for His people to return to the Promised Land and restore His worship... not everyone took advantage of the opportunity. Would you have returned or would you have remained behind in the safety and comfort of a foreign land? PowerPoint Slides and notes available at www.grace-bible.org
Speaker: Brian Fisher Scripture: Various references Series: Ezra, Haggai, Nehemiah, Malachi Series Order: 01 God chose the people of Israel as a kingdom of priests and poured out His blessing upon them so that all the nations of the earth might be drawn to worship God. He chose the land of Canaan from which to spread His glory throughout the earth. Because of Israel's failure to be a light for God among the nations, she was removed from the land as God had promised. However, when she turned back to God in the place of her exile, God once again acted according to His promise and brought back a remnant of the people to reestablish worship and witness for Himself in the Promised Land. Speaker: Brian Fisher Scripture: Luke 10:25-37 Series: Parables and Miracles of Christ Series Order: 10 The most wise and godly teacher to have ever walked the face of the earth, Jesus Christ, confirmed that the essence of life is to love God completely and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, we seek to limit our obligations and justify our actions. Jesus corrects our false assumptions and our self-righteousness. The proper question, we learn, is not, "To whom am I obligated (duty)?" Rather we should ask, "Whose needs can I meet (opportunity)?" I prove to be a good neighbor when I feel compassion for the need and take action. PowerPoint Slides and notes available at www.grace-bible.org
