Why You’ll Never Be Productive, Rich & Happy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:27

Does any of the following sound familiar? You set goals but never seem to hit them…you never seem satisfied…you experience up’s and down’s, but always seem to live your life somewhere in the messy middle…you have that “someday I’ll be happy” mentality. If that’s you, here’s what I know about you, you aren’t productive, rich, or happy. You’re familiar with the adage about keeping the same pattern but expecting different results, right? Starting right now it can all be different for you. This week I’m going to explain why you’re having this problem, and I’m going to give you a roadmap to escape the messy middle.   Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations Here is a truth I was reminded of the other day, “You are the books you read, the movies you watch, the music you listen to, the people you spend time with, and the conversations in which you choose to engage.” The Bible says something similar in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” This week we’ll show you how to develop new patterns of thought so that your life becomes “on earth as it is in heaven.” Tip of the Week In this episode I encourage you to “zero base” your life. What is that you ask? Our all-knowing friends at Wikipedia describe zero-based budgeting, as an example. Zero-based budgeting is: “a method of budgeting in which all expenses must be justified for each new period.” You start from zero, and every expense needs to justify itself. You can do this with your environment as well. Do the people you hang around with lift you up or drag you down? Does your office or home make you feel productive or drive you crazy? In this episode you’ll get a glimpse behind the scenes as I zero-base my own life. WARNING: This gets a little weird… Feature Presentation: “Why You'll Never Be Productive, Rich & Happy” I’ve got seven reasons why you’ll never be productive, rich, or happy. But don’t worry! I’ve also got some suggestions about how to fix them forever if you choose to do so. Here are the seven reasons you’re shackled to mediocrity… You’re just as productive, rich, and happy right now as you want to be. Most people are thermostats, pre-programmed and unaware of it. Most people suffer from scotoma (partial loss of vision). Most people have no one who will tell them the truth. Most people are unwilling to experience discomfort. Most people have conditioned themselves to “scratch the itch.” Productive, rich, and happy is a matter of being, not doing. I promised I would have solutions for you…here they are: Admit that you’re just as productive, rich, and happy right now as you want to be. Recognize your thermostatic nature. Figure out what your scotoma are, and work to eliminate them. Find people who will tell you the truth. Embrace discomfort as an indication of growth and progress. Recondition yourself to only feel the itch being scratched by achievement, not merely by activity. Figure out who you must become to get where you want to go. Here are some snippets from our conversation: You steer the ship – If you don’t like where you are, remember that you plotted the course to get there (11:40) Pay attention to the pattern – Why the unexpected is so predictable (12:24) Sean’s Rant of the Week – The biological reason you need to stop making excuses and do something with your life (12:54) What you don’t know can hurt you – How your pre-programmed ideas are sabotaging your success (16:10) Do you need glasses? – Your mental blind spot could lead to you getting blindsided (16:34) You can’t handle the truth – Why being “kind” may be the meanest thing you can do to someone (18:04) Comfort is overrated – How to get off the fast track to becoming broke, unhealthy, and stupid (19:06) Thinking does not make it so – Why confusing activity with accomplishment is a one-way ticket to the poorhouse (19:56) The Used Car Principle – It doesn’t matter what the outside looks like if what’s under the hood is broken (23:10) You can’t have both – You can have your excuses, or you can have results (23:55) Take ownership – How to start making the transition from renting your life to owning it (24:11) Escape The Matrix – The more you deny your programming the tighter its grip becomes (25:08) You have two ears for a reason – Why listening to truth-tellers can be a painful, but necessary process (26:48) Resistance is a compass – Why discomfort is often the most accurate map you own (28:56) Nothing succeeds like success – How to break the habit the failure by doing the one thing you don’t want to do (30:50) Resources Mentioned in This Episode The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand   How To Help Subscribe to the show through Apple Podcasts and give us a rating and review.  I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:15:14

As entrepreneurs, we have one mandate…get as rich as possible. How did you react when you read that? Did it make you feel uncomfortable and even a little squeamish? Money is not a “zero sum game” (meaning in order for me to win you have to lose) – it is quite the opposite. Money is infinite, a representation of the wealth created by entrepreneurs, tradesmen, and investors. So if money is infinite, why don't you have more? That's part of the fabric of my discussion with Perry Marshall on today's show. Perry is one of the most expensive and sought-after business consultants in the world. I think you'll enjoy the conversation. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations The Bible often uses the natural world to teach us lessons about how to live an abundant life. A perfect example of this is found in Proverbs 6: 6-11… Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man. As entrepreneurs, we’re like the ant. We have no boss to force us to do what’s necessary. Either we do it, or it doesn’t get done. Now go forth and prosper! Tip of the Week Imagine me mentoring you each and every month. What would that make possible for you? We would start with an intensive training about how to get your online marketing system set up and running, no matter what type of business you own. Then, each month, we would do a live video training session where you could ask me any question you like. Each month I would sit down and write you a 12-page memo about what to do, and then I would deliver a proven marketing campaign you could copy and use in your business. We’ll be opening the doors to this new, group coaching/mentoring/training program in the near future. If you would like more information, go immediately to rayedwards.com/reic to get on the VIP notification list. Feature Presentation: “Optimizing for Picnics” Perry Marshall is one of the world’s most expensive and sought-after business consultants. Perry wrote the world’s best-selling book on web advertising, Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords. More recently, he’s turned “80/20” into a verb. His book 80/20 Sales and Marketing is mandatory reading in many growing companies, and his books are course material in several business schools.  10 Reasons Why You Should Host Your Own Live Events | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:17

Hosting a live event is complex, expensive, risky, and stressful. Yet for some of us, live events seem like a necessity due to our business model. Even if you have decided that hosting a live event, seminar, or workshop is just too big a pain…Even if you have decided you have no interest in pursuing live events as part of your business model… I urge you to reconsider. Why? Because if you pass this up, you could be passing one of the most rewarding, enjoyable, life changing, and profitable business activities available to you. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations We in the entrepreneurial and human potential field are fond of quoting Napoleon Hill and his mastermind alliance principle which states… “The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.” Sounds kinda spooky, right? There is another book which states something similar, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20 (NKJV) But wait, there’s more. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) In this episode I’ll weave these concepts together and prove to you that there is power in the proximity created by people gathered in agreement. Tip of the Week Imagine me mentoring you each and every month. What would that make possible for you?  How To Create Content Fast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:09

If you want to build an online business, or if you want to go online to promote your local, real-world business, you face the same challenge. There are a bajillion websites out there, so how do you stand out in a Sea of Sameness? It’s easy to wast time, money, and effort and get nothing in return. There is one ingredient that can change all that. It’s not magic, but it is required. CONTENT. But how do you create enough good content to matter? This week we’re going to show you a simple way to create 10 pieces of content across 5 major platforms in about an hour. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations I love this particular scripture from Deuteronomy 8:18, “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” For those of you who get all freaked out when we talk about God getting involved in wealth creation…not only is He for it, He gave you the power to get it. You need confidence and you need to be able to recognize your own power, but also to remember who granted that power to you. Respect the creation, but worship only the Creator. Tip of the Week You know you’ve arrived as a content creator when people just start sending you stuff out of the blue. Now let me clear, I’m not opposed to people sending me their products to try in the hopes that I’ll talk about it on my podcast. If it’s quality stuff and makes my life better, I don’t mind talking about it. That’s exactly what happened recently when I was contacted by Aaron at Arkon Mounts. They have the largest assortment of professional-grade mounts, holders, tripods, and stands for tablets, phones, cameras, GPS, and live streaming. We’ve put a link in the resources section for all the cool stuff I received. If you want to see me unboxing and assembling these items you can check out my recent vlog entitled Do The Hard Things. I know you’re going to be blown away by the quality of these products.  They are all backed by a 2-year standard warranty. Use our affiliate coupon code “RayEdwards” which saves you 20% at arkon.com. Feature Presentation: “How To Create Content Fast“ Creating a large amount of high-quality content in a short period of time is easier than you think. Here is my 9-point system for creating content fast: Have an idea. Make an outline and talk about your ideausing your smartphone Publish the video on Facebook and Youtube.  5 Reasons You Don’t Get Things Done | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:04

Do you have a list of things that need to get done, but for some reason you never seem to get around to doing them? Sometimes it appears that everyone around you seems like a productivity genius…while you struggle to remember to feed the cat. Fear not intrepid listener, you don’t have to keep staring at that same to-do list as it bullies you and taunts you with feelings of failure. In this episode we’re going to reveal the 5 Reasons You Don’t Get Things Done…and how to kick those reasons to the curb forever. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations This week’s Scripture seems appropriate to our topic. Check out what Jesus had to say in Matthew 25:29, “To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.” Ouch. That doesn’t sound like Gentle Jesus. This Scripture comes from the Parable of the Talents. In this parable boldness is rewarded and timidity is reprimanded. In fact, Jesus actually calls the timid person a “wicked and evil servant.” Double ouch. Have you ever wondered why the most productive servant was richly rewarded while the timid servant had everything taken from him? The answer lies within this episode. Tip of the Week Imagine that you have a bunch of charges on your debit card every month, and some of them are a total mystery to you. Or worse, you haven’t looked at your statement in a while and you realize you’ve been paying a monthly charge for something you stopped using long ago. If these scenarios sound familiar, I have a radical solution for you…just call in and get another debit card. Why would I make such a suggestion? In this week’s episode I’ll tell you the story of what happened to me, and how you can learn from my mistake. Feature Presentation: “5 Reasons You Don't Get Things Done…And How to Change“ There are 5 main reasons you don’t get things done:  You don't know WHAT needs to be done. You don't know HOW to do what needs to be done. You don't know WHY it needs to be done. You don't have the time, energy, or resources you NEED to do what needs to be done. You don't have the COURAGE to do what needs to be done. This week I’m going to give you the tools to change and start your journey to becoming a productivity master. Here are some snippets from our conversation… Sean’s Rant of the Week: Jesus talks about cold, hard cash (4:52) Two strategic errors rolled into one – why what you believe makes all the difference (14:22) Start with, Why? – the one question that lights the pathway forward (16:14) Why are we doing this? – The Story of Bob and the Ultimate Consulting Question (16:44) Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic – How to stop doing stuff that doesn’t matter (18:01) The next logical step – Rediscovering The Lost Art of Thinking and Task Management (19:35) The Missing Link – How what you don’t know really can hurt you (21:54) Making Socrates proud – The 3 questions you must ask yourself before learning a new skill (23:27) An excuse masquerading as a reason – The one thing you do all the time that needs to stop NOW (25:44) The uncomfortable experiment – You’re not as busy as you think you are (27:15) This may hurt a little – How to follow your own yellow brick road and go from coward to conqueror (31:33) How To Help Subscribe to the show through Apple Podcasts and give us a rating and review.  Real Artists Don’t Starve | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:56

True or False: You can’t be a real artist and make money. Most other professions are more reliable and stable than any kind of art. A lower percentage of artists make a stable, livable income than other For art to be pure, the artist should not do it for the money. The only way for an artist to “make it” they must “sell out.” If you answered TRUE to ANY of those statements, you need some de-programming. In this week’s episode Jeff Goins will help set you straight. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations Our word for this episode comes from Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” We all know what happens if your computer gets a corrupted hard drive. It’s been infected and is no longer capable of properly performing the task it was assigned. The same is true for the words you speak. If they are infected with negative and hurtful attitudes they are no longer capable of performing the task they were given from God. What is that task? Your words were designed to edify, uplift, and encourage those around you…and yourself. Selah. Tip of the Week Our tip of the week, not surprisingly, is connected to our guest Jeff Goins and his new book, “Real Artists Don’t Starve: Timeless Strategies for Thriving in the New Creative Age.” One of the things I love most about this book is that it debunks the myth of the starving artist. As a side note, be sure to listen to the interview before you buy the book because he has a link that will hook you up with a couple hundred dollar’s-worth of free bonuses! Feature Presentation: “Real Artists Don’t Starve: An Interview with Jeff Goins“ In this episode, bestselling author and creativity expert Jeff Goins dismantles the myth that being creative is a hindrance to success by revealing how an artistic temperament is, in fact, a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
