You may have to do things differently at the start then later on.I Used To Have... I used to sometimes speak from stage. I had an affiliate program. And once upon a time, many years ago, I actually did a little launch of my product. I put more effort into having a product release all at once and have people focus on that. Whereas now, I just introduce them into my community.  So you do things differently down the track when your business matures and when it grows.Your Job Is So your job as a business operator is to see what’s out there and to see what is relevant for you right now and then remember to continually reassess if it’s still right for you.  Because as your business grows and matures and develops, you’ll need to make changes to adapt to the new version of your business.What I do with my Business Now in my business I do at a minimum of every three months. Every three months, I  fly overseas, meet with the team, go through the business and recheck all of our assumptions to see if they’re still relevant and making those spot checks helps us to make better decisions and that’s why the business is strong and continues to be as best it can be optimized for the current climate, based on where we’re at as a business.Your Action Step for Today So, today’s action step is to ask yourself what assumptions have I made that I need to reassess so that I can grow my business to the next level?I’m James Schramko. (http://www.silvercircle.com/)Transcription:James Schramko here and today’s topic is the easy trap and how you can avoid falling into it.The reality The reality is, some things are just not easy.  They might be simple, but they might not be easy.  So I think that a lot of the business fundamentals that have been around for hundreds of years such as good old fashion service and rolling up the sleeves and doing what it takes to get what you want, such as sweat equity - I believe they call it.  That is not easy but it’s simple. The thing is, when you’re prepared to do some of the things that other people are not prepared to do, you can actually access some of the rewards that other people will never access.Not a reality Whenever I’m involved with a group of people and I’m talking about the subject of internet marketing or doing business on the internet, I find that the questions that follow always revolve around ease. They tell me that they’d like to get a website that makes passive income and then they want to learn about it, they don’t need to understand much about it.  They just want to know how they can achieve that.Well the simple fact is, I don’t think that’s a reality.  I don’t think it’s a reality to have a passive income website with no effort, no knowledge, no understanding.  You would have to invest into something like that for a return and I think you’re going to need some knowledge to at least appoint someone to run a business like that.My Point So, my main point today is, be prepared to put in a little bit of effort to get a result that most people will never see. There are a lot of things online where you can leverage and it does become easy. But usually there’s a more difficult step before the easy step.I would say that my business now, in some of my divisions have things running really smoothly.  It only took six or seven years’ worth of continual effort to build it up to that point, that’s all.So, hope this has been useful and I look forward to catching up with you in the future video. The fact is, we were going to be out and about anyway and I thought it would be a good idea to bring the recorder. So, I’d be interested in hearing from you, Yaro, about your ideas around Laptop Lifestyle. What does it actually mean and how does it work?Yaro: In my recent studies of what people want to change in their life, it’s primarily a dislike for their job; a dislike for having a job, period. So, not wanting to work at all, and then, exchanging that time that they put into their work to do one of two things, and maybe both: Traveling, because that’s a huge one, everyone wants to be somewhere else because they don’t like where they are, or/and some sort of passion that’s in their life which could be their family, could be their loved one, could be a hobby – music, it could be making money, it could be running their business. I’m pretty sure James you would choose that probably as your main passion for a lot of the time and…James: Well, I do like starting and growing businesses, it’s definitely a passion.Yaro: Like, you don’t want to spend eight hours playing guitar, do you?James: Well, I’m not a very good guitar player but I could see if I was a fanatical guitar player, I could easily spend eight hours playing it, like my son. He will play until he falls asleep holding the guitar and he’s so passionate about it and it shines through in the work he’s doing with his band. And same with my daughter with her horses, she would ride two horses every day.Yaro: So, if they didn’t have to go to school, that’s where they would choose to spend a lot of their time on.James: But I think, you know what’s interesting, I think they will engineer their lives around their passion because they’re far less indoctrinated into the society that tells us we have to go to school then to university.Yaro: That’s your fault.James: It is my fault but you know, I’m very proud of what my kids have been up to. We can make them responsive. Responsive pretty much means that it will work in most of devices and it means there’s multiple instances of the way that the website renders. I’ve watched the video and I’ve got some comments about that video. I’m going to tell you my take on what he says.Why our sites are getting ranked One of the first points that Matt made is that Google focusing on good quality content; being able to identify good content on websites. For that reason, we move to hand created content and high quality content. So, we know that the content is good and that’s why our sites are getting ranked and we’re getting good results for customers (http://www.superfastbusiness.com/services/traffic/results/).The kind of site that Google will pay attention to So, the things to avoid are anything automated or shortcut or spammy. They’re not going to work anymore. What you really want is people come into your site and then coming back to your site and even sharing your site with other people, and that is a sign of good content. So for that reason, I’m sure that Google will be paying attention to repeat visits and people who bookmark the sites because it’s good quality.Over-optimized pages There’ll be updates to the Penguin and Panda algorithms and we’ve been on this from the beginning. Ever since they were released, our Research and Development Team had been working really hard on identifying what triggers the over optimization penalties, and we’ve put in place things that help our customers get better results. In the case where pages have been way too over optimized with too many anchor text keyword links, we suggest that you recreate those pages and build a new link profile. And don’t worry about the old links -- they’re not going to be savable easily.Color-coded sites We’ve also color coded customer sites so we know exactly which ones have a high risk profile and the color code is shared with our customers. So, if you’re a customer of SEO Partner, you will know how we tag your site, whether it’s a red or a green or a yellow site. You can ask our team what that means (http://superfasthelp.com/) and we will help work with you to make sure you avoid over optimization which is the common form of penalty with these algorithms.Getting a lot more traffic from Google Hand in hand with that, you should have a continual content creation program. So you would have a content creation calendar, or schedule, where you are putting out new content. You’ve probably seen me putting out these videos on a regular basis and over a year, it has made a substantial difference to the website authority of the sites that they get placed on and also the number of indexed pages which is quite literally the number of places that people can find my website for different search phrases. And in today’s episode, I’m going to tell you a pretty unknown secret that is really really helpful if you have a business. It’s going to create you profit so watch on.An Unexpected Business Tip Alright so this is part three. This is probably a not expected tip and maybe a little controversial. But what you should do is look for your product services lineup, and find something that you can sell that people may never use. What?! Yeah, find something that you can sell that people may never consume or use.An example of this: I have an Internet subscription to connect to the Internet from my house. Each month it allows me up to 500 gigabytes allowance. Now if I only use 50 gigabytes or a hundred gigabytes, the other 400 gigabytes just vanish. They go away. And the chances are, I’m not going to miss them because I’ve paid for them but i’m not using them.Same with my telephone bill. I get a capped plan that allows me to use up to X amount of calls or SMSs. Now if I don’t use it all, it just disappears. So, the telephone company and the Internet service provider are on to something pretty tricky.Getting Paid Twice For The Same Resource What could you provide a supply that people pay for but don’t necessarily use. They can use it if they want. But if they don’t, it’s not a big deal for you and it’s not a big deal for them.So an example of that might be selling hourly packages for a service that you do. Instead of just selling appointment by appointment, sell blocks of 10 appointments, or blocks of 10 hours. And now when people buy that, a) you get paid upfront; b) you’ve never had to deliver all of the hours at the same time as when you get paid; and c) a lot of people will probably just disappear and not even consume those hours which you can resell because you have capacity to someone else and get paid twice for the same resource.So, hope you’ve enjoyed this tip. I want to show you this email that I got from Amazon. It says: “Amazon customer, are you looking for something in our Digital Video Recorders department?” And it sent me these fantastic Zoom H4n kit.Now I happen to have a Zoom H4n and I was telling a friend of mine about it. And the other day, he sent me a Skype message and he says, “Dude! Was this the one you have?” and I clicked on it and went to Amazon and clicked on this exact product. Lo and behold, a few days later, I get this email.Isn’t that amazing timing?  Now they know that I haven’t bought it yet because I didn’t order it. And it’s very very timely. If I was interested in it legitimately and I didn’t already have one, this could be a good reminder.  Maybe I got distract or busy.Tracking the behavior of your online visitors Now here’s the thing, I know exactly what they’re doing, they’ve tracked my behavior and they’re sending me this follow-up automatically. And how I know this is possible because I do it as well and I’m using OfficeAutoPilot to do this with my own marketing. In fact, if people go to my website like SuperFastBusiness.com and if they click on the continue button at the end of the video, I know they’ve been there if they’re already in my system (and I’m obviously an Amazon system) and I’m able to follow them up only if they don’t buy, telling them exactly what’s inside SuperFastBusiness.And I’m doing it also for my live event and I know for a fact that It’s converting sales. Someone will click on the check out, not purchase, and then I’ll follow up with exactly what I’m talking about at the event. And I invite them to reply to my email and they do and then I start a discussion and then they order. That’s because places like Facebook really reward it but it goes beyond that. Of course you got sites like Pinterest, proving that people are visually oriented. You can now put your watermark on your image to get other people sharing your pictures which in effect is like having user-contributed banner advertising.Plus, we all possess an iPhone or similar, so you can actually create original images that look amazing with your camera and perhaps an app or two for a dollar or two dollars. I like the Camera+ app and it allows you to turn pictures into something stunning. By putting these pictures, you are engaging people and you’re getting emotion out there and you’re having discussions.Image marketing’s effect Now here’s an interesting thing, when we put thumbnail pictures on the front of SuperFastBusiness.com it halved our bounce rate, that’s right – it halved. So when you take advantage of image sharing sites, and I would include Facebook as an image sharing site, you can really get traffic back to your site. You can get awareness and engagement.So here’s what I suggest you do. Make your standard operating procedure that every single post you put on your website has a picture. Make the picture original. Either get a cartoon drawn by someone custom or use a picture that you take with your camera like I do for my episodes on ThinkActGet and FreedomOcean, or hand-draw something. But the point is, don’t use those cheesy stock pictures of people shaking hands and all that. No one likes those images. They’re cheesy and they’re drab, and they’re boring. Plus, Google’s already indexed them before. You can go to a site called TinEye and just see how many copies of stock pictures there are out there.You can get image marketing done for you So use original pictures, put them on every single post, share your post to Facebook and Pinterest, and sometimes upload them to Twitter and make sure you’re doing this on a continual basis. And you’ll start to polarize, engage, and get better response from your audience. Plus, if you want this done for you, head over to LinkJuice because we’re now using images in our marketing.I’m going to put a link to a video that I made recently explaining why I think our customers should switch from using press releases to using image marketing. In a recent video, I shared my one of the top three tips for increasing your bottom line profit easily. That one was about increasing the highest price point that you currently offer. In today’s video, I’m going to share another tip with you that I know is super, super powerful and one that has caused me to become wealthier than if i didn’t learn this tip.Ok, so hopefully you’ve gone and added a high price product to your lineup and I’ll link to that video within the show notes of this video in case you haven’t seen that one.What is the recurring option? In this episode, I want to cover the recurring option. What you want to do is look through your entire product lineup and find the ones that you can make into recurring supply. This is the secret of wealth because you actually get to sell once and get paid over and over and over again. Just like when you pay your telephone bill every month, or your electricity, or your gas. These subscription services are big. Magazine subscriptions. Gym memberships. What you want to do is find whatever component you can within your business that is recurring. I like recurring services. I like recurring information products. There are so many ways that you can do this.Pick your price point. Set it up as recurring and then lead every single one of your customers to your recurring hub, is what I call it. So, pick a moderate price point that everyone should have.  And make sure that they’re so much better off for having it that they never want to leave.
