No BS Podcast #203: Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780, Reader Questions, and an Intern Rant | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE GTX 780 mega-podcast! We were busy little bees this time and could only spare three people: host and Senior Editor Josh Norem, Associate Editor Tom McNamara, and legendary intern Chris Zele. Ironically, we spent most of our time jabbering on about Nvidia's newest high-end video card, the GTX 780. We didn't have the MSRP in time for the taping of episode of #203 of the Maximum PC No BS Podcast, but you can't let missing things like "facts" stop you from having an opinion! We also tackled reader questions, one of which was about the systems we used at home. So if anyone else was on the edge of their seat and waiting for this information, your day has finally arrived. Also, with Gordon unavailable, we had Chris do his rant at the end. We'll let you judge the results. Note: We're having our video-editing monkey slave away at editing the video. Provided he doesn't keel over, we'll embed it as soon as we can!  No BS Podcast #197: All Rants Edition | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

All of Gordon's epic rants from 2012! "Could ya'll possibly make an 'all rant edition' podcast this year like there have been in previous years? I liked those episodes of all the rants from the past year cut up into one." – user steven4570 Catzilla has nothing on Gordzilla Well, steven4570, be careful what you wish for because we listened and have unleashed hell's wrath…or at least Gordon's. Yes, that's right, we have assembled all of Gordon's rants from 2012 and have compiled them into one rant-fest that shall be known as Maximum PC's No BS Podcast episode #197. In this retrospective edition, Deputy Editor Gordon Mah Ung rages over such topics such as Star Wars, Apple, and consoles. The rants were plucked from episode #182 all the way up to episode #193. It is almost three hours long so if you've got a weak stomach for passionate hatred, you may want to listen in small doses! If you have feedback for the show, please leave it in the comments.  No BS Podcast #196: Nvidia Titan, Windows Blue, and Your Questions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Two podcasts in one month? We share because we care What's this? A new podcast already? Well, that's just how much we love you. And it gets us out of the salt mine for about an hour and a half. Not that benchmarking GTX Titans all day is a hard-knock life. In No BS podcast episode 196, we rotated in our trusty intern Chris, giving Online Managing Editor Jimmy Thang and Editor-in-Chief Katherine Stevenson some time to plot writing assignments and other devious shenanigans. This time around our hot topics include: - GeForce Titan performance - Windows Blue rumors - Google Glass - Intel's Clovertrail+ CPU And we can't forget editor's picks for software, hardware apps and whatnot: - Chris Zele: GParted Live, an ISO for managing storage drive partitions. - Tom McNamara: Corsair Neutron GTX, a 240GB solid-state drive. - Gordon Ung: Slimdrivers, a program that helps keep your drivers up-to-date. - Josh Norem: Pocket, for saving Web pages to read later, and on other devices. We also took a few questions and comments from the Twitters and Facebooks and nearly managed to answer them! Also, we did some fiddling with the Ares II (the liquid-cooled card from Asus with two Radeon 7970 GPUs on it) after this podcast was recorded, and we ended up getting some much better performance. It's actually a very cool and quiet performer, so disregard our comments about it being loud. It is the opposite of loud.  If you have feedback for the show, please leave it in the comments.  No BS Podcast #195: Intel’s NUC, AMD and GeForce Titan Rumors, Editor Picks, and Your Questions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Small PCs, Huge GPUs The Maximum PC staff has assembled once again for episode 195 of the No BS podcast to record our thoughts on the latest technology, to field a few questions from our eager listeners, and to be Gordon’s at-work support group for his advanced delusionary schizophrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage. Gathered at the round table were Editor-in-Chief Katherine Stevenson, Deputy Editor Gordon Mah Ung, Senior Editor Josh Norem and "FNG" editor Tom McNamara. We merrily discussed the following topics: - Intel’s NUC - AMD to “remain stable” through 2013 - GeForce Titan Rumors (Note: we recorded this podcast before the Titan's official announcement) - Surface Pro reviews We also surveyed the table for our Editor Picks, which are cool pieces of software, tips and tricks and stuff we think is awesome. Here were our choices: Tom McNamara: The Coupon App for Android – for the coupon clipper inside you Katherine Stevenson – KeePass – saves all your passwords safely and allows easy access Josh Norem – GkrellM – a handy desktop system monitor for a wide-range of functions, including hard drive/SSD bandwidth Gordon Ung – Abstained, was too focused on his upcoming rant.  Next we tackled your questions from Facebook, Twitter and Gmail, and ended the show by watching Gordon blow his top like Mt. St. Helens.  If you have feedback for the show please leave it in the comments.  No BS Podcast #192: We-Tear-Through-Your-Questions Edition! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

We admit it — we’ve fallen behind on reader questions over the past, oh, year or so. Sorry about that. To make up for it Deputy Editor Gordon Ung, Intern Chris Zele, Online Managing Editor Jimmy Thang, and Editor Josh Norem have pulled together to answer a backlog of reader questions in No BS Podcast #192 (Warning: we use "adult language"…a lot). First we yank a few questions from the voicemail inbox, and then we tackle questions from twitter, and then finally face questioning on Facebook. After the Q/A session, Gordon steps up onto his soapbox and delivers an impassioned plea regarding tablets. It’s an hour and a half of nothing but your questions and Gordon’s untreated psychosis.  If you want a question answered on an upcoming show, by all means, send it to us. We’ll do our best to get to it in a timely manner, but as always we make no promises regarding punctuality.  No BS Podcast #191: Surface Launch, Vishera Review, and AMD Takes On ARM and Intel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

October was a scary busy month for Tech (Halloween pun totally intended). Manning and "womening" episode 191 of the No BS podcast are Editor Josh Norem, Editor-in-Chief Katherine Stevenson, Online Managing Editor Jimmy Thang, and Deputy Editor Gordon Mah Ung. This time around the crew tackles a wide variety of topics that include:  - The AMD Vishera CPU Review - The Razer Blade gaming laptop  - 4TB drives - Microsoft's Surface and Windows 8 launch  - AMD vs. Arm vs. Intel - HD 7970 bundle In addition to covering a whole smorgasbord of topics, we're debuting a new segment called "Picks of the Week" which allow us to share our favorite games, apps, and gadgets. We share because we care (Ah, aren't we sweet?). Here are our individual picks this time around:  Picks of the Week Katherine: Qualys BroswerCheck – Scan your web browser for vulnerabilities in the browser or its plug-ins, then easily fix whatever issues it finds.  Gordon: Gas Buddy app – Find cheap gas anywhere you go with this free app for Android, Blackberry and iPhone. Josh: Convert a 3TB drive to GPT to access its full capacity.  If you have a drive that is larger than 2TB, Windows might not be able to recognize the extra capacity. You can access the full capacity on one partition though if you convert the disk from MBR to GPT. This video shows you how easy it is. Jimmy: League of Legends – A super popular MOBA game that Jimmy dares to say is better than Valve's Dota 2.
