Welcome to Filling the Gap. An audio podcast that tells the stories of the gaps we see in the world, within ourselves and inside of our church. Filling the Gap explores the topics and issues we face every day, but don’t always address or talk about. Through the power of storytelling, we hope to fill the gaps in the communities we find ourselves in. Filling the Gap is produced by North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Once Upon a Patriarchy show

Each episode, fairy tale and media studies scholar Dr. Shannan Palma and award-winning survivor advocate Wanda Swan sit down with a special guest to talk and laugh about all the ways Disney’s versions of fairy tales messed with their heads. They discuss both the pre-Disney literary versions and the changes Disney made to them. They reminisce about jamming to “Kiss the Girl” while asking, with some real concern, “Who is Flounder’s mama?” Does she know where he is? They're taking an outsider’s approach and looking for the counter-narratives in the stories. They’ll empathize with villains. They’ll add some color back into the mix. They’ll explore who gets to dream of happily ever after and who doesn’t — and what absorbing those messages as children taught them. Sponsored by the graduate program in Writing and Digital Communication at Agnes Scott College.

The Namaste Principle show

The Namaste PrincipleJoin Now to Follow

The timeless Indian greeting "Namaste" conveys the prayerful respect of the divinity within each and every one of us. The intention of these podcasts is to cultivate a caring, compassionate community - locally and globally - that will draw upon the ancient wisdom that reveals our connectedness as being "all one people." We will examine various systems of spirituality and psychology that together provide the foundation and practical ways we may integrate the Namaste Principle into our lives. We will include in these discussions a focus upon Vedanta, Raja Yoga, Buddhism, Christianity (especially as Jesus presents his intentions in "A Course in Miracles") as well as the works of Marshall Rosenberg (Nonviolent Communication), Byron Katie (Loving What is / The Work), Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People), Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Bruce Lipton (Spontaneous Evolution) and others.

Healing Through Creativity - Desiree Cox MD, PhD show

Healing Through Creativity - Desiree Cox MD, PhDJoin Now to Follow

What is it to heal through creativity? To move away from thoughts of accumulating information about health and wellness. To move away from the idea that creativity is something that occurs only in context of the arts or sciences. Move away from concepts of healing as "fixing" illness or "taking away" disease. Think other-wise. Think “healing” as an activation of our own innate capacity for positive change and creative transformation. Give in to it without intention and let healing becomes a restoration of the Whole as new capacities and wonders unfold. Listen and understand the gift-action that is healing. A “not-knowing” in a state of grace.
