Summary: On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about three things we learned this weekend with the San Francsico Giants. Club president Farhan Zaidi met with the media on Friday, and talked about how he is prioritizing starting pitching at the trade deadline. The Giants have several outstanding starters, including Kevin Gausman, Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood, and Logan Webb, who returned to action on Friday and pitched very well on a pitch limit, but Zaidi is concerned about depth at the position given the rigors of a 162-game season. The Giants also made several roster moves over the weekend, activating Webb, promoting Joey Bart (then sending him back down), and sending Tommy La Stella and Mike Tauchman on rehab assignments. The Giants will have a serious roster crunch upcoming when these players, along with the likes of Evan Longoria, are ready to return from injury. Potential trades will also add to the crunch. Finally, Ben discusses the Giants selecting RHP Will Bednar with the 14th overall pick last night. Bednar is a physical righty with a plus fastball and slider capable of missing bats in the zone. He also has a bulldog mentality and seems destined to be at least a solid starting pitcher for the Giants in the not-too-distant future.
