Summary: Along the spiritual journey of self realisation, we may experience glimpses of the ineffable nature of life. These fleeting moments of awe and ecstasy may follow feelings of emptiness, loneliness and hopelessness. We are then tempted to crawl back to our old ways of living under instant gratification and superficial fulfilment. Here I discuss the overcoming of what is referred to as the dark night of the soul.
