Mike Sidaway Music Entertainment: 'Live' - The PodCast (People Pleasing Music Company Ltd in association with Authentic Promotions Agency and Derek Chiswick Management presents) show

Summary: 7. Today's Episode People Pleasing Music Company Ltd (incorporating Publishing and Management) in association with Authentic Promotions Agency, Enigma Artistes Internacional, Surreal Events, Angry House Productions and Derek Chiswick Management presents a: Mike Sidaway Music Entertainment Production The Morning Breakfast Sessions: Friday 24th April 2020   "As well as being a legendary performer from the 1970s, Derek Chiswick has managed to shake-off his old image (whilst keeping his favourite purple velvet jacket from 1974), keep his adoring fans at reach, and re-brand himself as one of the world's leading Music Industry experts..." "Derek. Derek! Are you alright?" asks Mike. "Oh...I was just day-dreaming Mr Sidaway." Well, Derek might not be one of the world's leading Music Industry experts, but has carved out quite a nice, second career in Music Artiste Management and as a booking agent. Amazingly, amidst the Corona Virus pandemic, which has hit the care-home sector particularly severely, Derek has only gone and pulled a blinder - securing Mike his first paid engagement.  A gig!  At a care home no less!  Unbelievable.  In these times, you would have to say so. This care home, it would seem, are getting desperate for some form of activity and some normality in these extraordinary times, and would like a little music performance: requesting a musician as far away as possible.  Down the bottom of the garden, amongst the brambles and 'forny' leaves.  As Mike's agent and manager, Derek was not contractually obliged to provide plasters and bandages.  But Derek is a nice man.  Almost a father figure.  The kind of guy that would drive a hundred miles to bring you a pair of jump leads. Meanwhile, back at the studio, the 'BBC' continuity announcer, Duncan Quickstep, has clearly got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.  Either that, or he is unhappy with doing the midnight shift, announcing programmes that nobody is watching or are just simply not bringing in audiences.  In short, a kind of resentment and bitterness seems to be building in Duncan because he is not getting the 'prime-time' slots that he feels he deserves.  One of the options he is contemplating seems quite drastic.  Duncan must be feeling some kind of desperation and that now is the time to strike: He is seriously thinking about changing his style of delivery and spicing up his announcements to show the upper echelons of the 'BBC' his full range and just what he can do.  But he will have to tread carefully - as it is a very fine balance to judge just right amount of humour whilst maintaining a clear, concise and professional delivery of his announcements.  He must also face up to the hard reality that no-one in the entertainment industry - and the 'BBC' for that matter - is indispensable.  Essentially, Duncan is his own boss, he writes his own scripts, and so if he is to get the 'prime-time' Saturday evening slots that he yearns for, then he will have to think seriously about these very public displays of his tantrums.  He knows deep down that he needs to change his attitude, just get his head down and keep focused.  But one thing's for sure: this morning's moody, sullen performance is certainly not going to do him any favours to get him ahead anytime soon....   Songs Today Stuck On You, Elvis Presley Fly Me To The Moon, Frank Sinatra Cracklin' Rosie, Neil Diamond Human, The Killers Moondance, Van Morrison, Michael Bublé Mrs Robinson, Simon And Garfunkel Can't Stop The Feeling!
