Summary: RAW Editors like Adobe Lightroom Classic go far beyond RAWs. They import and edit a myriad of image formats. The most popular among them is JPG. It's a perfect format for viewing photos but it does not lend itself to image editing. It might sound silly but it improves the quality of your edits tremendously if you convert you JPGs into 16-bit images before editing and reduce them again to 8-bit afterwards.
