Beautiful Names of Allah - 02

Yasir Qadhi show

Summary: In this lecture, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi goes over the most common and primary name of our Creator, "Allah." This name is mentioned approximately 3500 times in the Qur'an. The name Allah comes from "Alaha," which means to turn to for protection and help, which every single creation in heavens and earth do. Others say the name comes from "to elevate." Another meaning is "the one that astonishes and confounds the mind, one which the minds cannot comprehend." The strongest opinion, however, is that the name comes from "Aliha-Ya'lahu," meaning "to worship." So Allah means the one who "is worshiped" and "deserves to be worshiped".

Presentation details: June 6, 2016 @ Memphis Islamic Center
