Episode 030 – Google Updates – Hummingbird & Penguin 2.1

Internet Business Q and A Podcast show

Summary: In this podcast: Google Updates: - Hummingbird & Penguin 2.1 Remember, when you are listening, it always helps us out if you visit:  http://listeningtochrisandcurtis.com and share that you are listening on twitter (or if you just want to say hello!). The questions for this episode include: To start with, why are these updates happening, where can I find more info on them and which sites are affected? What is Google Penguin?  What is the latest 2.1 Penguin Update?  What does it mean? What does this whole thing have to do with the Hummingbird update? When do I know my site has been hit? What do you need to do if you have been hit?  In other words, how do you recover from this update? The Curtis-hanger for the episode: Facebook privacy settings change Facebook made a fairly significant change to the way it handles a certain type of post.  For any post that you created in the past, if you set it to public, anyone could see it, or if you set it to friends of friends, then those friends that your friends have could see it. However, now, both of those types of posts are going to be completely public.  I know quite a few people who have done posts with the friends of friends setting, so this would affect every post that they've set like that, making them all available for public view. To change this, go into your Facebook settings, then privacy settings, then pick limit posts you've shared with friends of friends or public.  Facebook will then give you a warning, then select limit old posts.
