This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Alaska to discuss the case of Sophie Sergie, a young Yu'Pik woman attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In late April of 1993, Sophie's body was discovered in the bathroom of the women's dormitory on campus. But soon, without any leads, her case went cold. That was until 345 months later, when the same DNA evidence techniques used to catch the Golden State Killer pointed the police to a suspect... a suspect living in our own backyard. This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Artesia, New Mexico, to discuss the strange and sad case of Alexee Trevizo. Alexee was a 18 year old high school senior just months away from both her senior prom and graduation. She enjoyed cheerleading, and spending time with her boyfriend, Devyn Fierro. The young couple even planned to head of to school together at the UNM Las Cruces in the fall. However, on January 26th, 2023, Alexee was rushed to the hospital in extreme pain. At one point during her stay, she ran off to the bathroom, which was caught on surveillance video. While in the system, they were placed in the care of DHHS social worker Sally Schofield, who had no plans to return the girls to their rightful parents. Her father, Brett Hallow, and her new stepmother, Sarah Kay Nasby, kept little Autumn away from her mother, Kelsey, and blamed it on the pandemic. On August 13th, 2020, paramedics were called to the couple's apartment after Autumn was found unresponsive.
