The Misery Machine
Summary: There‘s a problem with True Crime. Creators are idolizing perpetrators, shaming victims, or being completely checked out on cases while they do their makeup. However, we can‘t forget there are victims who lost their lives and families who are still grieving to this day. The Misery Machine is a podcast that focuses on cases the media fails to give proper attention, especially local and missing persons cases. We want to help give those a voice that never got to have one to begin with, and bring light to cases desperately needing more resources. We also cover aspects of cases that other podcasts might look the other way on such as mental health and social issues, and the way that these cases impact their communities for generations. It‘s not enough to simply cover a case, our platform must be used to make a difference. True Crime is boring, we‘re fixing that. New episodes every Monday. Want to request an episode? This week, Yergy and Drewby take a trip up to Baraboo, Wisconsin, and cover a listener suggestion from none other than the amazing Eddy! Baraboo is a town that's all about the circus - but it's known for another darker scandal that rocked the community in the 90's when kids were going missing and turning up mangled in unimaginable ways.
A year later, Drewby and Yergy revisit the killing of Abby Williams and Libby German in Delphi, Indiana - two young girls just out enjoying the Delphi Historic Trails. The case was made popular in part due to the fact that Libby German captured audio and video of her suspected murderer on her smartphone. This month, a new suspect has entered the case, 20 miles south in the town of Lafayette, Indiana. Will the victims soon have justice? Preeyanuch Nonwangchai, Apiwan Satayabundit, and Kawita Ratchada are not household names in the west, but they took Thailand's media by storm after what they did to 23-year-old Warissara Klinjui. In May 2017, the Thai public became enthralled with a grisly karaoke bar murder case. Police quickly apprehended the three women responsible for the crime - and the so-called Thai “Murder Babes” became media sensations - with merchandise being produce in their honor.
