JRPG Report Episode 212 - Kingdom Hearts IV Shocking Announcement | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:39:09

It's been 15 days since the last show, and surprisingly there weren't a lot of stories to cover. But there was one huge, giant one: Kingdom Hearts IV is in development. There was an awesome trailer showing a new look for Sora and even some thrilling gameplay. I'll pass along every detail we learned. There was also a new mobile game announced (yay) so I'll give you scoop on that. Dalton weighs in with some fanboy commentary too! I'll get you caught up on the past 2 weeks worth of news of course. Make sure you stick around to the end for what I've been up to and the results of my big meeting yesterday. For a first time on the podcast, we have not one guest but two! And it's two of my favorite JRPG nuts: Jake & Jordan. We hope you enjoy this fun chat about all things JRPG include what we are playing, why Ys 8 is so great, and a deep dive into Final Fantasy's popularity. Of course at the end we take Legend of Heroes so warning there maybe some spoilers.  JRPG Report Episode 211 - One Piece Odyssey JRPG Announced | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:42:22

Each year there are surprise announcements for games coming within the calendar year. We already have Xenoblade Chronicles 3 fit this bill, and now we have One Piece Odyssey. It's a really promising JRPG based off the anime coming in 2022. I'm excited for the game and will tell you what we know about it. There were only two small announcements (unless I missed something) from yesterday's New Game Plus Expo, most notibly the revealing of Prinny Presents Volume 3. There was what seemed like an early April Fools Joke but its true: E3 2022 is cancelled. Choosing to relaunch next year in a physical and digital format, the digital only event schedule for June will not happen. The future of it remains uncertain. I've got some news about the future of FF XIV from series producer Yoshi P, music from a Distant World and on vinyl, and an update on Chrono Cross. The latter is part of my ending rant so stayed tuned until the end. Today marks the first podcast in a long time that won't have a YouTube version. That experiment has officially failed. I sank 2 years into the project with no monitary reward. I appreciate all the interactions and friendships formed, but won't continue sinking hours needed into the format. Thanks to anyone who watched that way for the support over the years. I'm sorry.  JRPG Report Episode 210 - Relayer Launches Today Worldwide | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:29:14

Yup its another short week of news. I had to dig to find 30 minutes of content but we have some good stuff here. Today marks the worldwide release for Relayer, and I've got day 1 patch notes to make the gameplay experience better.  There's a new new cosmetic crossover event between Scarlet Nexus and Tales of Arise happening soon. No date or price was given yet so I'll have to let you know later. Soul Hackers 2 had a story update but it contains spoilers so I'll invite you to check the links via our social channels instead. We have a few indie games that might not be on your radar yet, but I think look promising. Lastly the great Yuji Horii was honored with a lifetime achievement award, so I'll read his statement. It goes over his career which started 40 years ago with Enix. Hoping for more news next week. We had to release on Thursday for personal reasons this week, and will again next week for work reasons.  JRPG Report Episode 209 - Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Launches June 30th | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:10

Not a huge news week, but here's a date Monster Hunter Rise fans have been looking forward to for a while: the release date for Sunbreak. The expansion dlc will hit PC and Switch on June 30, 2022. Along with the new trailer and images, I'll go over what we know about the game. As you can tell from the show length, this week was shorter than usual. We've got a new game on the radar, sales on both the PSN store and Steam store, and updates for other great JRPG titles. Hope you enjoy it and thanks as always for listening.  JRPG Report Episode 208 - The Diofield Chronicle and Valkyrie Elysium Coming in 2022 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:40:46

It was a very odd State of Play from Playstation this past Wednesday. While we didn't get an update on previously announced JRPGs, we were treated to two new games, both coming in 2022. Square Enix showed off extensive gameplay and story elements from The Diofield Chronicle and Valkyrie Elysium, both of which look great. I'll go over most of everything we know so far. Those two games were the only JRPGs show during the 20 minute livestream, but we have stories about the following games this week: Soul Hackers 2, KonoSuba dungeon RPG, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and Disgaea 6 Complete. All that plus a few others around the JRPG world. As always thanks for listening! It's been way too long since we checked in with friend of the podcast and host of the Steam Machine podcast, Dalton. He was kind enough to swing by and chat all about our beloved JRPGs (in addition to Pokemon talking in Episode 207). We had a blast catching up, talking about what we're playing, and a few other things. We hope you enjoy our chat!  JRPG Report Episode 207 - New Pokemon Games Announced | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:08

Last week's Pokemon Presents surprised the gaming world with the next generation announcement: Scarlet and Violet are coming in 2022. I spoke with Dalton about his reaction to the news and what gamers can look forward to this year.  In addition to new Pokemon news, we have a release date for The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero. It will launch in North America September 27th, a few days later in Europe. Finally console gamers will get the play the Crossbell arc, with part 2 coming in the spring.  DigimonCon 2022 gave us the return of Digimon Survive and information about its delay. Still on track for a release this year after its move to a new publisher. There's still a new Digimon Story game in the works, and plans for a possible Digimon World port, remaster, or remake. Those were the big headlines this week, but we had a few small stories too. Don't forget to listen to our Sunday Special with the one and only Dalton. We had lots of fun talking JRPG's and I think you will too.  JRPG Report Episode 206 - Soul Hackers 2 Announced | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:37:51

It was a busy week for Atlus and Square Enix. We lead with a surprise new JRPG from Atlus called Soul Hackers 2, a sequel to the 1997 Japan only game. It was later released on 3DS in the west in 2013, and now we get a new game in the Shin Megami Tensei universe. I'll go over everything we know about the world, characters, and story, including a release date much sooner than you might think. Square Enix showed us the next 10 year plan for FFXIV, including opening a path for single players. They also gave us the long awaited pixel remaster of Final Fantasy VI as well as some Nier Automata news. All those stories and more on Episode 206. Thanks for listening!  JRPG Report Sunday Special Episode 40 - Final Fantasy IX OST Part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:21:08

This is a special one, I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I have for the past 20+ years. It's a massive soundtrack so I've broke it into two parts, disc 1 and 2 this week with 3 and 4 next week. As a young man I'd listen to this OST while drifting off to sleep each night. I invite you to do the same or just listen as you please. This stands as one of Nobuo Uematsu's finest works, and will be enjoyed for many years to come.  JRPG Report Episode 205 - $20 for a Classic: Chrono Cross Remaster | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:28

There was one key piece of information we didn't learn with Chrono Cross Remaster's announcement last week: the price. Well now we know it's only $20, an excellent deal indeed. You can preorder now on all the e stores. While certainly not as busy as last week, I do have some stories to pass along to you awesome listeners. Relayer is getting a demo ahead of it release next month. Enjoy 2 chapters and carry over progress to the full game. The opening movie for Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters has been released. Long time players will likely recognize the artist behind the song. We learned a little about the 3 warring nations of Triangle Strategy too. A few other fun stories make up episode 205. We've got  three weeks of Sunday Specials coming. The next two weeks will be part 1 and 2 of the Final Fantasy IX OST, followed by a chat with Dalton of the Steam Machine Podcast. Lots of things to look forward to, thanks for listening.
