Geekin’ On WDW 067: A Tale Of Two Resorts With Author Kristi Fredericks | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:26

Happy Cinco de Mayo Day! In episode 67, we chat with author Kristi Fredericks about her book A Tale Of Two Resorts Comparing Disneyland and Walt Disney World: A Traverler’s Reference. We are the family friendly, Father/Daughter podcast that will feed your passion for Walt Disney World by sharing our experiences and opinions as well as others from our community of passionate Walt Disney World geeks. I’m joined tonight with my cohost.  The smartest, cutest and sweetest Disney Daughter in the World, Lindsay. Our guest on this episode is Kristi Fredericks from disneyworldenthusiast.com and TouringPlans.com Author of two Disney Resort books: A Tale of Two Resorts: Comparing Disneyland and Walt Disney World 501 Ways to Make the Most of Your Walt Disney World Vacation Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla. Review new Avengers movie New Super Hero Headquarters store New music act at Epcot, American Music Machine DisneyLand vs. Disney World When to go? Does DisneyLand have events like WDW? Atmosphere Topic 1 Disneyland is rich with history and ambience. Being the smaller of the two destinations, it has a strong sense of charm and coziness. Around every corner, there are unique details and themes that bring the Disney “magic” alive. Stepping into the resort is like a trip in a time machine bringing you to a place of long ago when life was filled with joy, fun and entertainment; where anything can happen. If you are a history fan, there is nothing quite like walking where Walt Disney walked and visiting the place where it all began. Disneyland Park is far more detailed than the Magic Kingdom (though New Fantasyland gives it a run for its money). Disney California Adventure is no slouch either with the best themed Disney park land in the country at Radiator Springs in Cars Land and the celebration of California’s great outdoors at Grizzly Peak. Topic 2 Budgeting – $1000 more for Disney plus airfare Topic 3 Because of its smaller size, the Disneyland Resort only has three on-site hotels. All three of the Disney owned and operated properties are clean, nicely themed and well maintained. Disneyland also has partnerships with 39 other quality properties in the area that they give the honor of being considered a “Good Neighbor Hotel.” These hotels run the spectrum from no-frills economy types all the way up to luxurious superior resorts. Topic 4 Food * Favorite Lounge * Quick Service * Table Service * Character Meal Topic 5 Review Organizing your day table of attractions comparision No magic bands/fast pass+ in DisneyLand Any major differences in managing your day between the resort Kristi Fredericks Website: Disney World Enthusiast Facebook: Next Disney Vacation Twitter: @DWEnthusiast This week’s question: Have you been to both Disneyland and Disney World?  How would you compare the two resorts? You too can be a guest on our show. Do you have a trip report or a great idea for a top 5 topic to chat with us about?

Geekin’ On WDW 066: How To Do Disney World With Twin Two Year Olds With Claudia and David From Miami | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:08

In episode 66, we get tips on doing Disney World with twin two year olds and a top 5 must do’s for 2 years olds with Claudia and David from Miami, FL. We are the family friendly, Father/Daughter podcast that will feed your passion for Walt Disney World by sharing our experiences and opinions as well as others from our community of passionate Walt Disney World geeks. Guest Hosts: Jenn Galambos and Judy Ludwig Guests David and Claudia from Miami, FL Tips for traveling to Disney World with young kids: -Carry a “travel bag” keep loaded with extra diapers, wipes, two changes of clothing, plenty of snacks and battery pack -Side by side stroller that can recline for naps, it becomes our mobile home base -Schedule rides early, lunch, nap, back to hotel, pool time, back at park after 6 for dinner and walk them around (Our kids refused to nap in hotel and were to excited to sleep early, at home asleep by 7pm, so we bate before park at night and tire them out and pajama them in car before back in room) -Since babies born we only stay on property (became Dvc members) closer to parks, the level of customer service is ridiculous (son got hurt at splash area and wdw bent over backwards to help us, also had a bad fridge in room and our food spoiled, they went out to Publix and bought us replacement food) also pools are amazing -When packing bags, roll up entire outfits (shirt socks pants) so you just grab an outfit and go, don’t have to mix and match -Activities for room and eating dollar store packages that include crayons and stickers also good for car -Allow them to run around as much as possible to tire them out best spots are the ducks at Epcot between a seas and land, open areas at resorts, boardwalk area, playgrounds, living seas aquarium area, garden in England -Rider swap is pretty awesome Most important tip, the trip is for the babies to enjoy wdw, and us to enjoy them! They won’t complain if they didn’t get to ride their favorite ride, they are just happy to see Mickey. We have annual passes so it takes the pressure off of feeling you have to ride every single ride. Top 5 Must Do’s for 2 year Olds Mine: * Dress up boy as Pirate; Princess for girls * Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween * Pictures/Autographs with Mickey Mouse and characters * Memory Maker and lots of pictures * Pool * Dumbo Top 5 must do’s Claudia: Small world Peter Pan Epcot Mexico ride Ariel ride Carousel David: Small world Shooting water fountains Epcot Mexico ride Jungle cruise Kilimanjaro safari Pre-Trip report * DVC at the poly June 20-24. * Pork nachos at captain cooks Jenn Galambos http://www.fairytaleconcierge.com/ Facebook Judy Ludwig: Puppettude.org Outtro: You too can be a guest on our show.
