Total War has produced many different games, and each one is set during a different period in history. All Total War games are extensively researched so that the games are historically accurate. The Death of Baldur is one of the most famous stories in Norse Mythology. Baldur was the most beloved of all the gods. The son of Odin, the Allfather, and Frigg the Queen of Asgard, Baldur was a handsome, gracious, and cheerful character who gladdened the hearts of all who were around him. Norse Mythology was the religion of the Vikings and the Germanic people of the middle ages. It’s a collection of stories or myths centered around many complicated characters such as Thor, Odin, and Loki. These stories gave meaning to the Vikings' lives, and the gods played a large part in how they lived their lives. It has been almost 1,000 years since the last Vikings built settlements and waged war against the Christian kingdoms of Europe. To many, the great legacy that the Vikings left behind has been all but forgotten. Don’t get me wrong, today the Vikings are more popular than ever. But despite their increasing popularity, the way in which the Vikings are often times portrayed is simply not historically accurate. The Vikings were a truly legendary people. For nearly 300 years they ruled the waves of the Northern Seas and raided peaceful monasteries and towns along the coasts of England, Ireland, Scotland and France. As raiders, the Vikings had an infamous and beastly reputation. Pillaging, burning, and killing whatever lay in their path. They would stop at nothing to appease their desire for wealth and glory. But apart from being excellent at raiding, the Vikings also established a trading network that stretched from Finland to Newfoundland, successfully besieged the greatest, most heavily defended city in the world, discovered North America, and revolutionized the way that we build ships.
