Prior to founding Nereus, he spent 24 years in the United States Navy, enlisting as a Hospital Corpsman (combat medic) and culminating his career as a Lieutenant Commander and Medical Officer with Naval Special Warfare Development Group. His career spanned numerous deployments providing medical care in austere environments around the world. While assigned to Naval Special Warfare, he was recognized as a subject matter expert regarding medical contingency planning and risk mitigation. He received numerous personal awards during his military service, to include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star.
