The Book Vs. Movie podcast takes a different turn today with our first review--the HBO documentary Spielberg. After covering two episodes featuring Steven Spielberg as director (Jaws and Jurassic Park) and with many more surely to come we felt it was the perfect time to look at his full body of work.

The Margos get very gothic and silly sometimes trying to wrap their heads around Mary Shelley’s venerated classic novel with Henry V director Kenneth Branagh’s wildly acted and directed film. How crazy is this adaptation? How about a dance sequence between a zombie Helena Bonham Carter and Robert De Niro as “the monster?”

Margo D. (co-host of Book Vs. Movie) and Juliette Miranda of the Unwritable Rant podcast turn up the spookiness in this episode talking about the classic Ira Levin novel and the venerated film directed by Roman Polanski. It took a year to make this show happen but it’s now ready, enjoy!

Book Vs. Movie finally takes on the Suzanne Collins’ classic 2008 novel The Hunger Games and compare it to the 2012 movie--both smash hits. We were a little scared to take this on as the trilogy as it has some very fervent fans. But the Margos are as fearless as a tribute from District 12 so we grab our bow & arrow and take aim at each work of art.

The Book Vs. Movie podcast takes on (again!) the 1975 classic movie Jaws as well as the truly not-so-great 1974 novel from the otherwise very thoughtful author (and shark supporter) Peter Benchley. We covered this topic two years ago but our old ways of recording thing leaves quite a bit to be desired so we decided to take it on again. (Besides, who doesn’t love watching Jaws for the hundredth time?)
