Silvana Costa, former chief fellow, and our current chief fellow, Erica Weber, and talked about the Foundation’s fellowship program, and what to expect as a research fellow here. Kessler Foundation’s fellowship has been around since 1999, and past fellows include Drs. Abhijit Das, Director of Medical Rehabilitation and Neurorehabilitation at the Institute of Neurosciences in India; Allison Cernich, Director of the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research in Bethesda, MD; and our very own Nancy Chiaravalloti, Director of Neuropsychology, Neuroscience, and Traumatic Brain Injury Research here at Kessler Foundation. A number of our fellows have gone on to research and teaching positions at universities such as Penn State, Columbia University, NYU, Drexel, Montclair State, and many other academic institutions, nationally and internationally. Welcome to a Kessler Foundation Spinal Cord Injury Grand Rounds podcast featuring Isa McClure, PT, MAPT. Isa is an Advanced Clinical Specialist at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. She will be presenting “Introduction to the SkinStep e-Learning Module”. Summary: Under the leadership of Isa, the Rehabilitation Standards Committee of the American Spinal Injury Association has created a new e-learning  module, SkinStep, which addresses the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries in people with SCI.  The module focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to this challenging issue.  An introduction to the module and its contents will be presented. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Bios: Rodger DeRose Rodger L. DeRose is president and chief executive officer of Kessler Foundation. Under his leadership, the rehabilitation research and grant program divisions were integrated into one organization combining Kessler Medical Rehabilitation Research and Education Corporation and the Henry H. Kessler Foundation. Elizabeth Connolly was appointed by Governor Chris Christie as the NJ Department of Human Services Acting Commissioner on February 28, 2015. She has worked in various roles at the Department since 1988, most recently, as Chief of Staff. She began her career in the Department’s Division of Family Development and worked in child welfare reform as Director of Data Analysis and Reporting in the Office of Children’s Services. Ms. Connolly also served as Director of Research and Evaluation, Special Assistant to the Commissioner and led the Department’s Hurricane Sandy recovery initiatives. She lives in North Brunswick and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Masters in Public Administration from Seton Hall University. Governor Chris Christie nominated Ms. Connolly to be Commissioner in June 2015, during the previous legislative session. She was re-nominated February 2016. Kathy Krepcio is the Executive Director of the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, research, and administrative activities of the Center. During her over 30-year career in higher education, government, and the nonprofit sector, she served for 18 years as Chief of Staff for New Jersey's Office of Information Technology and as Director for Policy and Planning for the Department of Human Services. Her research and technical assistance activities have focused on individuals with disabilities, older workers, dislocated workers, social welfare, employment and training, as well as administrative data analysis and program evaluation.
