Tom Perrin, management consultant and former assistant coach talks to Coach Brendan Suhr about how he first got into coaching and how that led to his current consulting work, coaching through relationships, continuous learning and more! Tom has been a management consultant for the past 12 years. He provides leadership and management-development services to clients in a wide variety of fields, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, construction and higher education. Tom also consults with college and professional sport teams, and he spent June 2010 in South Africa working with the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team at the World Cup as their sport psychologist. Tom holds a Ph.D. in sport psychology from the University of Virginia. Prior to his transition to consulting, Tom served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at the college level for 18 years, 15 of those at the University of Virginia (1982-1997). Following this experience, Tom spent two years working as an advance scout for the Indiana Pacers in the National Basketball Association (1997-1999).
