DIRECTV NOW is our new over-the-top streaming entertainment product, and it will soon be out in the market. Simply put, customers will be able to use DIRECTV NOW to watch live and on-demand content on many of their devices – TV, smartphone, tablet, etc. – anywhere with an internet connection. Earlier this year, DIRECTV NOW was just a good idea. That’s when our user experience teams get to work. In this month’s Life at AT&T podcast, you’ll get to hear how important customer input is in designing our new entertainment products. Danielle Hammond is one of our customer testers and Bethany Fenton leads the design team behind our new DIRECTV products.

It’s election time in America! It’s time to pick our nation’s top leaders. Don’t worry, I haven’t decided to take a turn and start talking politics. Instead, I’m using the election as a timely hook to talk to some of our leaders. Some of our female leaders, to be precise. Since it’s back-to-school time, for this month’s Life at AT&T podcast, I’m taking you inside a classroom. Listeners will get to experience a boot camp for new hires in the Technology Development Program (TDP). Follow along as Logan Klein from AT&T Technology Development hosts a gamified training on Agile. His job is to teach teams across the company how to use Agile, a development methodology that a lot of our IT teams now use. It’s been a full year since AT&T acquired DIRECTV. Since then, we’ve added 1 million new satellite subscribers and 10,000s employees. One of those employees who came over is Jorge Hernandez. He’s an installation technician who does installations and service calls for DIRECTV systems. On this episode of the Life at AT&T podcast, I tagged along on one of Jorge’s installs. I got to hear what goes in to bringing customers satellite service… and how beneficial it can be to be bilingual in Jorge’s role.

We have more than 3.5 million business customers. So, it goes without saying that our sellers have a very important job. Adrian Johnson is one of those sellers. She’s a Client Solutions Executive 2 in Small Business Solutions. She represents about 40-60 business customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. June is LGBT pride month, and AT&T is a huge supporter of diversity. As a matter of fact, we’re #4 on DiversityInc’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity list. For more than 10 years, Human Rights Campaign has given AT&T a perfect score on its Corporate Equality Index Score, which measures how a company treats lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. So, what’s it like for an LGBT employee to actually work at AT&T?

Gary Yates, a Cable Splicing Technician, shows us how AT&T brings high-speed services to your home or business. “We’re a lot like the mailmen. If it’s raining, sleeting, hailing or snowing. No matter what, we’re out there doing what needs to be done,” said Gary.

At AT&T, we're transforming the way we work with our Workplace 2020 initiative. The new office spaces are open, collaborative environments supported by a variety of new technologies. Behind all the new audiovisual technology is a team of technical architects, including Ryan Everhart.

Every year, 1,000s of developers converge on Las Vegas for the AT&T Developer Summit. It’s our annual event leading up to the International Consumer Electronics Show. Over the 10 years we’ve hosted the summit, it’s evolved into a “powerful messaging platform for us to communicate the year’s Mobility strategy."
