Judi Stella is Head of Health Standards & Research at Good Dog. She earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University and her Ph.D. in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on applied ethology and animal welfare science, from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was a USDA Science Fellow with the APHIS-Center for Animal Welfare and a visiting scholar at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her research includes environmental factors that affect the behavior and welfare of confined animals and the impact of the quality of human-animal interactions on animal welfare. Cat Matloub is Head of Community, Partnerships, and Legal Affairs at Good Dog. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago’s Law School. Before joining Good Dog, Cat worked as a corporate lawyer for Skadden Arps and as the Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Sony Music. Jessica Hekman, DVM, PhD is a veterinary researcher at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and teaches online classes about the biology and genetics of canine behavior. Jessica received her Ph.D. in Animal Sciences (Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics) in 2017 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied canid behavioral genetics. Previously, Jessica graduated from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 with a dual DVM/MS degree. Her Master's work was on the behavior and cortisol responses of healthy dogs to being hospitalized overnight. She also completed a shelter medicine veterinary internship at the University of Florida Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program. Jessica's current work focuses on the genetics of behavior in both pet and working dogs through a citizen science approach.
