What happens After You Die? Country Rock Singer Rod Black Shares His Near Death Experience | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:20

What happens after you die? How does having a near death experience change you? When I was six years old flat lined after enduring a severe Grand-Mal (Tonic Clonic) seizure. Although I was so young I was given the gift and understand through my near death experience that we are not alone, that there is so much more beyond this physical realm. It has been something that has been a blessing but also a very confusing “knowing” especially when you combine it with teenage hormones and the constant journey of finding your truth in a world that tries to continually define “normal.” A normal you never really could relate to. Join me for this episode of Cara Jones Speaks as I talk about my own Near Death Experience and interview Country Rock singer Rod Black about his own Near Death Experience. Welcome to the Cara-Normal!

Photography & The Art Of Living In the Moment: An Interview with New Zealand Photographer Deb Young | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:02

How can we use the art of photography as a way to practice mindfulness? When Young was a teenager, a photographer friend took snaps of her family.  They were dressed in muslin and flares and the shots were taken outside in the back yard.  Back-lit and black & white, she was mesmerized by the romantic, almost rock-star feel of those back yard, hippie shots. Her passion for photography came to life when she was given the opportunity to work behind the scenes on the publication of New Zealand Photography Magazine. She was involved in editing, shooting, image processing, judging the monthly-run competitions and interviewing professional photographers. That early connection prompted Young to pick up a camera again, years later after raising her family. With a fascination for documentary photography she began shooting the streets of Auckland using a variety of analogue cameras.  Young’s work has been featured in such prestigious online photography magazines as Lenscratch, Dodho, Visual Artbeat, PH Magazine and F-Stop. She recently had work exhibited at The Kolga Awards in Tbilisi, Georgia and the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado. Along with artist/photographer Francisco Diaz, she was named “International Photographer of the Year” at the 6th Edition Pollux Awards, the Fine Art and Documentary Photography Biennial held in Malaga, Spain.
