Michael interviews Lynne Lambert, owner of Prak Productions, which sells clothing stamped with New York City street signs. She is in the apparel business, but prior to that she was very successful as an actor for 25 years. However, as she became older she saw opportunities for her and her peers decreasing. Then, one day in 1995 she came up with an idea that changed her life. She was standing waiting in a New York subway for a train. She noticed herself gazing up at the sign just ahead of her and began to notice that it had symmetry and actually artistic appeal. She noticed other similar signs, and then her artistic nature woke up. She asked herself that if these signs are so appealing, why hasn’t anyone printed these icons onto clothing? Nobody ever connected the dots. Luckily, her neighbor was an intellectual property rights attorney who suggested she get the property rights to print the icons. In short, that's what she did. She went to the New York Transit Authority and they accepted her proposal. Today, the New York Metro royalty she pays goes to fund the New York Transit Museums. Lynne’s apparel lines carry all the icons of New York - letters, numbers, maps. She is also on the board of AFTRA. Lynne’s biggest business problem is that she really wants to grow her distribution because they have been a mixed line, and she is trying to figure out the best way to do that. Her options include expanding to other cities. New York City is not enough, so they’ve done London, and hope to do D.C. Lynne’s artistic enthusiasm for life and her passion for her business are contagious and her voice is magnetic. You'll definitely want to listen to this interview. Tangela Walker-Craft is the owner of Simply Necessary, which manufactures the GoPillow!. Moms say it's the best multipurpose baby product any mother or caregiver could ever have, and is esp. useful for breastfeeding moms. Tangela says the GoPillow! can be used from birth and beyond breast feeding w/ built-in privacy cover-up pillow and body wrap for babies, a portable toddler pillow and blanket, a portable diaper changing surface, a sun and wind shield for babies and toddlers, an arm cushion for carrying babies and toddlers, an arm warmer during cold weather, and a travel pillow for all ages. She has a demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl4rrlJmh70. Her biggest problem is gaining product recognition. When people see the product they love it. They’ve had orders from Sweden, Germany, Australia and the Philippines, but because the orders are for only one, the customs cost makes the price too high. So, they hope to find national dealers in other countries. But even in the U.S. postage can make the cost too high. So they need to get a national retailer to pick them up. Simply Necessary, Inc., 7206 Hileman Drive West, Lakeland, FL 33810-4704, www.simplynecessary.com, Tangela@simplynecessary.com, 863-859-2650.

Michael interviews Patrick Sweeney, owner of Odin Technologies, a profitable & fast growing RFID company in a very hot sector, of which his company is the leader. They have a very unique software platform that is a great foundation for applications. They also have the chance to acquire a competitor which got purchased by a large conglomerate three years ago. That conglomerate just went bankrupt so there is a great arbitrage opportunity to buy the company for $ .15 on the dollar. The problem is in financing the acquisition. Private Equity groups will want a large chunk of his company, and debt lenders will want outrageous covenants. The acquisition opportunity has a poor software strategy and would be a great opportunity to cross sell. They need $20million for the acquisition. Michael guides Patrick step-by-step to be PRO-active in the process, rather than simply being RE-active. www.odintechnologies.com 21631 Red Rum Drive, Suite 165, Ashburn, Virginia 20147 USA, phone +1 703.968.0000, direct +1 703.574.2028 ----------------------- Michael also interviews John Shegarian, owner of Electronic Recyclers International, Fresno, CA. John began years ago with a successful financial firm in San Diego, from which he transitioned into electronic recycling, which he says is an incredible growth market. His ocmpany is the world leader in GREEN recycling, moving over 170 Million Pounds of waste annually. However, a big problem he faces is educating the public about how to get their cell phones, PCs, blackberries, tvs to his recycling plant and why to do it. John is enthusiastic about his market, and Michael helps him think through the problems and break them down to managable options. www.electronicrecyclersinternational.com.

Michael interviews Kathie Nelson, owner of KathieNelson.com, a management consulting practice. Her vision is to influence the ideology of how entrepreneurs and small businesses “do” business. She believes that clients working from ther strengths, learning how to monetizing their talents and gifts, and learning how to serve others is the path that will unleash their potential and income. But it’s refining the business model for delivering that message with the highest impact that has her stuck. Her original vision still has the potential to excite her but her business model has become cumbersome and labor intensive. She is a home-grown or bootstrap entrepreneur which she says might be what keeps her operating at this level. So, her biggest problem right now is to how to find a vision that excites her and, secondly, how to develop a business model that supports that vision easily. ---------------------- Michael also interviews Jillian White, owner of www.WhitePicketFenceAppraisals.com. She started doing real estate appraisals 5 years ago, before the sub-prime meltdown. Previous to 2009, she would physically go into houses and do appraisals for mortgage, financing, home equity line needs, really anything having to do with mortgage funding. When the financial meltdown occurred in 2009, orders for her services significantly decreased. A lot of businesses like hers closed up shop. However, Jillian realized that in order to stay in business, she needed to adapt to the new market conditions quickly. Today, she does “Collateral Evaluations”. This is done entirely on the Internet. She has a team of appraisers who work from their home offices. While almost all of the people she worked with and was trained by, and with whom she socialized with went out of business, her business increased 130%. Jillian says that the biggest problem she is having in her business right now is how to deal with the guilt of being so successful.

Michael interviews Nellie Akalp, owner of www.CorpNet.com. Nellie is an attorney as is her husband, and together they went into business in 1997 by purchasing a domain name and putting up just one web page. Within two days of being online they were making money in four digits. In 2005 she sold the company to Intuit and she retired. She has an OPS background and her husband has a strong technical background. After completion of a three year non-compete agreement with Intuit, she started another business, www.CorpNet.com. Her company is an incorporation document filing service. Nellie is passionate about simplifying the incorporation process for her clients. She explains that most business people are not aware that they don't need an attorney to file. What they really need is a knowledgable and reliable document filing service. Using her system, she states, entrepreneurs can end up saving thousands of dollars. Nellie reminds our listeners that growing a business is a huge, huge, huge commitment to watching every dollar. She recommends really engaging with your clientele. “It's not about needing a huge marketing budget and thinking that you'll bring in lots of business with lots of advertising”, she says. “Focus on the client, giving best possible service to clients.” Michael helps Nellie to step back from her business long enough to answer the question, “WHAT business am I really in?” Listen to this fascinating story of business success, and Michael’s skillful questions leading Nellie to the point of beginning to take her next giant leap to even greater success.
