 Yule 2010, Frith, 6th Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Our 6th Yule celebration night talking about Frith. Frith is so much more than just "good feelings" it's learning to work and live within the community and make decisions for the society's well being above your personal gain. It's about putting the community ahead of yourself. We talk about Willhelm Groenbeck and suggest that you track that out-of-print book down. Perhaps at the Heathengods website, but who knows? :)Download Standard Podcasts

 Yule 2010, Community, 5th Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Our 5th Yule celebration night talking about Community what it means to us and it's place within Asatru. We started out with the Havamal Bellows translation. 1. Within the gates ere a man shall go, (Full warily let him watch,) Full long let him look about him; For little he knows where a foe may lurk, And sit in the seats within. 2. Hail to the giver! a guest has come; Where shall the stranger sit? Swift shall he be who, with swords shall try The proof of his might to make. 3. Fire he needs who with frozen knees Has come from the cold without; Food and clothes must the farer have, The man from the mountains come. 4. Water and towels and welcoming speech Should he find who comes, to the feast; If renown he would get, and again be greeted, Wisely and well must he act. 5. Wits must he have who wanders wide, But all is easy at home; At the witless man the wise shall wink When among such men he sits. Download Standard Podcasts

This is the second of the several recorded classes from the East Coast Thing 2010. Gary Golden had an excellent lecture regarding Groves and Sacred Spaces. He talked about his practical experience in creating a dedicated ritual space with his Grove and the lore that he looked at in the creation thereof. This is a wonderfully meaty class and we strongly recommend following his journey through the lore via the previously uploaded document files. You will not regret that effort.
